I have been running the last generation Newton in the EN flavor for a few years, I am a heavier rider, 200-210 depending on the time of year and the current Newton have been nearly faultless. I live in a mostly dry and very rocky region and they have held up to all the abuse I could throw at them. That being said I am really excited to try these out, I welcome any added grip, and the sizing looks better, the last gen 2.6 measured 2.45 at the casing.

Even if he did jump the tape, what would be the verdict there? You have to keep within the poles if I remember correctly, i.e. going through the tape you have to come back inside the same pole/tree the tape is attached to. If you jump over a pole... Well technically you're inside the pole EDIT: yep, jumped over it, bonking it. It's even marked as a special moment in the replay All good if you ask me given some other pole&tape jobs on other tracks.

How does long reach make up for bad technique. If anything it makes it harder because you have to be more active and aggressive on the bike. So tired of this labelling of folk because of the size of bike/wheel/brand (etc) they ride.

Looks quite similar to the Cannondale Jekyll layout. With the exception that the front half of the rocker is hidden and the frame surrounds more of the shock on the Jekyll.

In reference to the cost of the Atherton frames... I don't get the same sticker shock as some people might. If you look into getting a custom frame made from a small frame builder in the US you're typically well north of 3k for just a steel roadbike/gravel/hardtail frame. I'm looking to get a custom Ti Single Speed hardtail made this year and it will probably be over 4,000
