I think Scott did this when they were prototyping the new gambler, obviously never made production. 36T front chainwheels and ridiculous speeds mean pedal kickback is a moot point now. The proto must have had a higher pivot point I'm presuming to require the upper idler, but if you have ever ridden a supreme, it's a very surreal feeling having the rear end grow on compression, I personally love the confidence it inspires when hitting sketchy shit.

I've spent a few months on a 2021 Float X2 now and have the same findings. I'm at least a couple clicks faster on LSR and HSR than the recommended settings. Bike: Banshee Titan XL Rider: 6'3" 210 lbs 2020 Fox 36 Factory 170mm 91 psi, 2 orange volume spacers HSR 4 out LSR 5 out HSC 9 out LSC...

I disagree with the design of this pad as well. It seems to lack padding right where the downtube of a bike rests on the tailgate, just above where the downtube straps are. This is the one spot that should have the most padding. I've tried rotating the pad on my tailgate to make up for this, but then the bike separating foam blocks and straps aren't in the right position to secure the bike. As for downtube wear, that's to be expected - it's happened with every tailgate pad ever. You just need to pick up some adhesive protection...
