Not sure if this is completely team rumors or not, but I saw this cannondale prototype “enduro” bike at mountain creek bike park’s closing day. Looks like it’s based on the DH bike being tested last season. It’s got 29” wheels, 160-170mm front travel with looks about the same rear travel. The guy riding it was about 6’2” give or take. The rear is LOOOONNGGG and the headtube was really slack. 63 ish degree range? At first I thought it was just the proto DH bike but it didn’t have a dual crown fork, and it has water bottle...

10/20/2019 5:14pm No flame, legit question. What is the main driver for a team now days to race WCDH, let's face it.... it isn't to sell DH bikes anymore. Is it like F1, where it's just pushing the technical boundaries of the sport for future R&D and product dev? Is it just the love for the sport? Is there any way to...

brash Added a reply to Is the 29 / 27.5 combo (97.5) bike here to stay?
9/9/2019 7:45pm when I mullet'ed my e-bike (27.5 x 2.8 plus tyred) I put a 29 x 2.5 assegai and a 27.5 x 2.4 Dissector up back, head angle got 0.8 slacker and BB stayed essentially the same within a millimetre or so when compared to stock geo. The bike is a beast now, monsters over rocks but turns on a dime...

9/1/2019 3:00pm Well that was well worth waking up at 2.45am for! Gutted for Troy, he wanted that one more than anything. But hats off to Loic for the perfect run. Fast, yet totally in control. 72kph through the speed trap with rocks the size of small dogs is near insane asylum stuff.

brash Added a reply to Discussion: Fork Damping vs Spring Rate
8/16/2019 6:27pm if you ever watch the EWS highlight youtube videos, Hills bike is visibly more compliant than his competitors. Bike is constantly in the midstroke on the slow mo. Obviously works for him. One thing I've learned with suspension is while there is theoretical "correct" setups, the best setup is the one the rider feels most confident on. Confidence usually turns...

8/4/2019 3:02pm another hater come owner of an e-bike here. I use it for trail building, recovery rides and as a husband/father for the 1.5hrs I get free to myself to crush as many laps as I can. I always thought it was cheating.... but who am I racing? More laps.... more fun.... more skill progression on the Downhills. I still feel...

7/24/2019 3:12pm Tyre pressure is the first thing you should have dialled, then make sure your fork is in good working order and sliding properly on its seals and bushings. Even a slightly sticky fork can be the difference of 5 to 10 psi or the last 20mm of travel alone! Spring rate is the most important thing to get set up, it's what supports your weight and pushes the wheels back to the ground so has the biggest effect on how the bike responds to bumps. The damper dissipates the "left over" energy to help the spring use only the travel...

7/24/2019 3:07pm Damping = De-amplitude. Very good topic and good discussion. This is something I've done a LOT of testing on. I've built myself a franken-36, Just stuff I had laying around combined with a purchase of a Grip2 damper, it's impressed me but I think there is a bit more work that can be done. 36 Rhythm CSU and Stantions.
