I'm picturing a firm rubber washer under new tape (maybe a couple layers around that spot) so you can use a presta valve cinched tight without it pulling through the slightly wider rim hole, then same or a bigger o-ring under the outer collar. now that I've typed that out, seems like a cut tube would have a similar effect

Shocks are often tuned off of average leverage ratio so as long as travel remains the same then general tuning would still be accurate. If tune is done for a specific spot in travel then that's out the window as soon as leverage curve changes. Damping force as felt at the wheel is inversely proportional to leverage ratio squared for anyone who's curious. As for spring rate or shock pressure, increasing progression while travel remains fixed generally results in a higher leverage ratio at the sag point. So to keep the same sag point you'd need to increase spring rate/pressure...

won't disagree that there's health benefits in many cases, but pretty big assumption to make that this (or any person) has any weight to lose. nothing wrong with product innovation to accommodate a broader range of body types.

Yeah, GCN+ if you're listening...the most recent race replays shouldn't be the 4th columm of videos down the screen. And when I click the junior race, at the end of that race, there should be a link to the next video in chronological order or it should do a 5-10 second countdown and auto play. Had to close the video. Scroll down 4 columns Slide over 6-8 videos Hover the mouse and squint to the see the title Click the video. Repeat. Did that 5 times today catching up on the replays. And why don't they have a freaking ROKU...

Sigh. 100 to 1? According to what dataset? VitalMTB is a website, not a reflection of reality. The actual demographic mix is something between 70-30 and 80-20. Back when I produced an all women ski film I dove into the demographics data across a number of mountain sports in painstaking detail. Most mountain sports mirror this 80-20 to 70-30 mix and hasn't changed too much over the last 10 years (though it has moved toward more women participating, which is awesome). Why has it changed? Its really hard to point at a single variable but I'd argue technology being more...

Hi, Basti from SQlab here, Sorry for being late, we had a public holiday in Germany, yesterday. Upfront, I am in charge for int. Marketing here, so it is only me to blame, plus maybe our team rider Stevie, with whom I created the whole campaign idea, which the video is the most important part: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nquh2lM75X8 Before I post our official statement, I want to point out first, that on a shooting side, we simply fucked up. We never wanted the butts to look same and female on the first look. We wanted the widest spread of different butts as...

Good to see my predictions are ringing true. Just my $0.02 but if a fraction of the time went into real, actionable, community focused efforts the sport would in fact be more inclusive, open and (frankly) rad. For all the do-gooders in this thread, play your actions forward. Lets say your really mean emails get the company to issue a press release apologizing. Man, do you feel good, what a victory. But what really changes? As far as I can tell, absolutely nothing. If you think you'll stop the utilization of sex in advertising I'd suggest you get your head...

I saw the ad on another site and though nothing of it. It seemed pretty clear there was mix of male and female butts. Coming here confirmed that. I would say the biggest issue with the ad was it didn’t make me want to go check their saddles. But then I am not sure what ad would make me go check out a companies saddles.

Yeah, wow, guilty as charged. Those posts look reeeeeally bad to my eyes now, but I definitely wrote that, so apparently it seemed like a great idea at the time. I cannot believe I posted those as an adult and as a sponsored athlete. If I could take back those words, I would. I apologize for my retrograde asshole opinions and for probably making other people feel uncomfortable or unwelcome in our sport. Having been on both sides of this issue, I feel pretty strongly that we should (politely) look out for retrograde asshole opinions that make people feel uncomfortable...

So, is the perception of all women models and the appropriateness of the ad for selling underwear ON a bike site the main issue? If the ad featured 100% male or trans individuals, would you be okay with it? What about 75% male/trans? Clearly, 50% doesn't seem right. It's odd that your wife, who worked in marketing, doesn't see the value in something that grabs attention. It's quite common for people to say, 'Ah, I got tricked by this!' Getting everyone to realize that their assumption (pun intended) was wrong and that it's not solely about objectifying women is the...

wow you guys are some SQ-uares indeed! Gnarly stance to take on a pretty tame ad, one that even saw your righteous outrage coming and pre-empted you by putting manbutt blockers in there. Does this all jive with your stances on God Squad DHers, transphobic stage dad/TMs, and cowboy stars'n'stripes family values vloggers? How are you going to make it all work out? You're doomed! You cannot possibly have the energy required to be angry about this. The biggest gripe I have with this campaign is the domme / toadie character tropes...pretty cornball, but it's Germans...and it's bike seats, so...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nquh2lM75X8&t=71s Watch the YouTube video, half are men and half women. They are making an ad for seats and guess what sits on seats? None of the models are showing more than what you would see at the beach. Not sure why people need to be outraged by stuff like this especially without doing 20 seconds of research.

I don't understand the idea that safety is an all-or-nothing deal. Small things add up. Making thoughtful efforts in the areas surrounding the track where a rider will likely end up in a crash seems like a reasonable ting to do, and won't affect the racing at all. Since crashing is inevitable when people are pushing the limits, doesn't it make sense to lessen consequences of a mistake when there is an easy solution? I also want to make a point about the onsite doctor. Having a full-time doctor with the World Cup that goes to all races and understands...

What's the point of having a B Zone if it isn't going to be cleaned up? You can look to almost any other racing sport to see how track boundaries are specifically designed to help mitigate risk. All auto racing tracks are designed with space on the outside of critical corners to give a buffer from hitting a structure, or if there is no room, the walls are specially constructed to absorb impact. Or look at ski racing, which takes place on these same mountains, and notice the layers of different types of fencing, and the pads on the trees...

Makes a lot of sense though to ban gas-powered tools in what is essentially a natural conservation area, for emission reasons. Plenty other ways to make noise.

Not sure if this has been discussed here, but on a local Swiss Bike Site they mentioned the banning of chainsaws at the Lenzerheide World Cup this weekend... Kein Scherz: Weltcup Lenzerheide verbannt Kettensägen vom Streckenrand | Ride Magazin Translated the text below for all the English speaking fellas. What sounds like a belated April Fool's joke is actually meant seriously: The chainsaws, which are extremely popular fan utensils in downhill, remain silent at the World Cup in Lenzerheide. The reason is that the race tracks are located in a spring protection zone. After eight years of the World Cup...
