I'm most interested to see who's switched out to sharpie tires the 2nd day of practice.

I have had Factory on my last 3 bikes because it came with the bike but I wouldn't pay significantly more for it. As pointed out above the retail pricing isn't that much different.

Loic and Finn running the new Cannibal tile in the final tune-up event before the world cup. Big news if they make the jump back to Specialized tires from Maxxis. Regarding the Cannibal, Gwin had said the Butcher was one of the best cornering tires but lacked braking power vs. DHR2. This new tread is DHF/Butcher with an added DHR2 braking block. Interesting feature is that the side knobs are staggered. Unlike their other treads. It also has the Minion hooked side knobs--probably to satisfy Finn. Adds braking power while cornering.

These Fox roller bearings are terrible about creaking/clicking. I had to replace them on both of my Santa Cruzes. I went with RWC needle bearings and haven't had any problems.

while I agree on the looks, Gwin covered his own up as it was a Trek Session. ;-)

The 'complaint' is that Intense is getting the (completely new and different) bike to DAK a couple weeks before the season kicks off even thought they build frames in house and have been working on this project for since last summer--if not much earlier. It often takes months for a riders at this level to feel at one with his/her bike.

WTF that is a high pivot for 2022! Classic... They got on their new bikes a couple weeks before season kicks off. (And DAK's first ride on a high pivot) ... As we know it takes a while for a rider to learn how to ride/corner a high pivot. Especially one that high. Timing will setup DAK perfect for the season! (Sarcasm) Looks like Intense will unfortunately be riding 'prototype' bikes all season again as this thing seems half-baked haha.

Higher tyre pressure is easier to cut through the tread as the case doesn't deform over the rock. A cushcore would let you have the same side support as higher pressures, but allow the tyre to deform and not get pierced as easily.

I get the fear of tire weight. But you either need to be slower on the climbs/flats or ride slower on the downs. Or have the skills/decision making to protect your equipment. There just isn’t getting around it if you aren’t flatting due to a specific piece of bad equipment. I ride dh tires in my hardtail and dd on my spire. Cushcore xc upfront and pro in rear. I ride 30 plus psi in the rear on the hardtail If I’m going anywhere With a lot of rocks. At my budget with my riding style/skill there is no reason...

No more ENVE it would appear. Makes sense to me that they are opting for a different wheel manufacturer after the front wheel failure in West Virgina.

First off, dont garner too much from people saying "I ride tire/wheel/insert X and I do/dont flat every ride". There are simply way too many variables which cannot be understood without a deeper dive into a multitude of factors. Everything from suspension settings to how (in)frequently people check their tire pressure before each ride to regional variations of terrain/rocks to the obvious ones like tire casing choice. That doesn't even touch on different peoples perceptions of how fast or hard they ride. (we've all been on rides with big talkers who are nowhere as fast as they actually believe they...

The one thing about inserts is they don’t make the casings tougher. A thinner, Exo casing with Tannus/CushCore will still be a thinner, Exo casing. In my experience. With inserts I can run lower pressure but I still use the same casings as without inserts.
