FWIW, carbon for mountain bikes (except XC maybe) is the biggest mistake ever. Bikes are not a simple product to make out of composites (complex shapes and details, bearing mounts, two parts to the rear triangle, etc.), carbon or any composite is not a simple material to work with as it's not isotropic, the industry can't afford to do proper engineering on the product, as the numbers, price and lifecycles of the final products are not at a level that would make composites a worthwhile choice of material, etc. I am speaking out of my butt here, haven't thrown around...

Got a good look at the chromag full suspension bike yesterday. Steel frame, alloy chain and seat stays. Not sure on the suspension and the guy wasn’t too keen on me taking pics but it was red so probably very fast. He said they should be out pretty soon, full builds available from them but no info on pricing.

Product designer says, "Look at this new wonder material! It's stronger and lighter!" Warranty guy sees the number of expensive frames coming back broken and tells the engineers to thicken up the carbon layers. Then this ^. Meanwhile at another company they realize that they've finally gotten their alloy frames to stop breaking through proper heat treating processes. Warranty guy says "Keep up the good work!" And they do and their bikes are lighter and cheaper.

"In fact, that’s why you can see the bottle mounts in all those highly-analyzed video stills after the DH proto debuted at Crankworx last summer!" No one believed me.

This is less electrical engineering (requires a custom PCB more or less), more general engineering and software engineering. The way I see it it would be a simple actuator pulling in a cable to actuate a remote lockout shock. That's the easy part, it doesn't require much force, a cheap dc motor with a worm drive (to provide self locking so you power the motor only when actually moving the cable) and a worm gear to wrap the cable around. It would be, counting the PCB as a single part and including a battery, like 7 or 8 parts (roughly...

Yeah, I heard horror stories about BOS servicing too. But honestly, if you don't have 2 left arms and have a half decent garage, enabling you to service your own suspension, what brand to get? Intend? FOX is notorious for a clusterfuck of servicing tools (expensive tools that change from generation to generation), RS is fairly OK, but has been dropping the ball parts wise - I have a C1 RC2 Lyrik, that looks to be a complete unwanted child (it's a bit of a mix and match of parts, not quite an Ultimate, but very much like it), shimstack...

What will it be this time. A Kevin spade miniseries? A Morgan freeman audiobook? A commission from banksy? Perhaps Fabio will model with it? Hopefully it’s dark Norton boosting some huge gaps. But I’m prepared to be disappointed.

I think it's coming together then... Kamloops, MikeD and a frame sponsor who is willing to create something unique and wild. I was actually going to suggest Chromag as an option since they are the king of the super slack hardtails and in Whsitler. They would be down to make a super slack & long dual suspension. But I didn't realize WeAreOne are in Kamloops--so that has me leaning towards them. Plus they are killing it in the wheel business right now so may actually have funding to put into sponsoring Yoann. So I'm going with WeAreOne or Chromag as...

They have a rear triangle with two short links. Therefore they need a full rear triangle with a connection between the two pivots on the rear triangle. The old Nomad has this link on the left side only to clear the front triangle, this one is built similarly (more symmetrically) to the current crop of Santa Cruz bikes - Megatower, Hightower, Tallboy, 5010, Bronson and Heckler. This goes hand in hand with the current lower link shock mount, though the Nomad did this in the V4 generation already with the asymmetric swingarm.
