5/27/2024 2:14pm Buy the Klein trademark and start making aluminium full suspension bikes with amazing paint jobs, variable chainstay lengths, and taller stack heights. Offer the same level of component customisation as Propain.

2/15/2024 3:33pm I couldn't own a Kavenz for this reason, the raised chainstay and double axle pivots make it look like a dog squeezing one out.

11/17/2023 5:02pm This is kinda my area of expertise. With automotive tires +/-4% is achievable. The issue you run into with MTB tires is the web (topped cord) thickness is so low. You'll inevitably have material from the calender start up or some other event where the gauge deviates .05 mm or more. Which doesn't seem like a lot until you start producing topping material specced close to .50 mm or so. Then you're looking at large percentage changes. Similar concept with extruded material. It's challenging to precisely manufacturer rubber products and that gets harder the more you scale down. My guess...

11/15/2023 6:17pm Assuming you mean a non-aspirated 2.0l engine, even that can handle a short climb before succumbing to a lack of power - you said "noticeable when you're reaching the exhaustion point of your "I've been climbing non-stop as long as I can" run. I just wondered how long/far said climb is in your opinion.

11/15/2023 4:55pm Haha perhaps, but the longest climb I do in one go is around 320m. I just wondered if they meant something like 1,000m of climbing in one go.

11/15/2023 4:07pm Out of curiosity, how much climbing are you talking about?

11/15/2023 4:06pm I can't speak to XC-type tires since those don't work for me, but the difference between a heavy DHR2 and a light DHR2 is noticeable when you're reaching the exhaustion point of your "I've been climbing non-stop as long as I can" run.

11/15/2023 4:02pm Right now I'm doing my senior mechanical engineering project on a subject related to this. I'm measuring a tire's effective spring rate and seeing how it changes with tire construction, with the goal of using it as a tuning parameter in addition to internal pressure. Obviously this is for the pointy end of the spear in terms of rider skill; mainly aiming at pro teams to use the info/device during pre-season testing. In the research process I was lucky enough to connect with a WC mechanic and tire weight inconsistency is just the tip of the iceberg. The person I...

11/15/2023 3:17pm Yes and no - I find that lighter tyres need to be pumped up more to factor in the lighter casing, which means you deflect off features far more than a heavier, lower pressure casing, which can conform to said features and make it easier to maintain momentum (the key to technical climbing imo). I went from WTB Vigilante/Trail Boss...

I complain when short or average drivers test drive cars. Stick a tall person in there and they'll soon highlight the lack of underthigh support, the angle of the footrest, and the limited telescopic steering range. I'd like to see more consideration of the weight increases (and decreases) between sizes, at 230lbs, I'd love DD tyres as standard whereas a smaller rider can probably get away with Exo (talking trail bikes btw). Then consider stack heights, dropper lengths and shock tokens etc. Sorry for the ramble, just some random stuff that popped into my head.

10/31/2023 8:47pm Fair. I am just betting they don't get to do many of these shootouts, and I find it limiting for me personally. Admittedly a strong case of the boo hoos. If I road an XL, I would be pumped. Most of the time, these shootouts are done with larges, and that makes sense as it's the number one size sold, the next being medium. Generally, those two are significantly higher in sales than an XL, with Small being behind that. I would like to see a review with six riders, 3 XLs, and 3 Mediums of the same 3 or...

9/13/2023 2:52pm Ha, they use a 180lb 5'4" guy--very heavy for that height. Should be using a 5'3" 130lb person if you really want to talk about size differences. The bike feels the weight more than the height. 45lbs between the two in nothing compared to ~100lbs. Also, if they want the same experience, the tall guys handlebars are way too low and the 5'4" guys are way too high. 5'4" guy should have at least a -5deg stem and flat bar with no spacers under stem. Tall guy needs at least 60mm riser bars and a couple more spacers to get...
