I think high stack and long rear center is kinda a no brainer for DH but... I thought this post was specifically going to be about 0mm or reversed stems, which is the more confusing narrative that definitely leads to different handling characteristics but... Still can't say if its simply better or not. Living near Bronson, I got to demo the RR stem for free, but on a normal bike. It did what I expected, but I am the most average rider ever. Lots of leverage, quite good handling, but made my normal bike feel 'too small' and ended up...

There is merit in it to me. I came from Moto. I would set up my enduro dirtbikes bike with sky high bars and lowered footpegs to give a upright/strong riding position for long days. Coming to mtb I always struggled with the low stack heights. My current bike has relatively high stack, 40mm bars, 30mm spacers under the stem and a 462mm chainstay. I'm as close to riding a dirtbike as I've ever been. I feel "in" the bike now rather than on top of it. That security of been centered between the wheels is confidence inspiring. You utilize...

Are you able to talk a little more about the handling? I didn't mention it in the post as without riding it I don't feel qualified to comment on the steering dynamics. I'm curious if you felt any vagueness in the front wheel (i.e. it was difficult to precisely place it)? I'm pretty sure Brian Cahal mentions this as one...
I don't think a top 20 will definively indicate if it works or not. Even a win wouldn't, because there are too many other factors in consideration. But I think the current string of results are at least an early positive sign that the setup, even if not optimal, isn't noticably hindering them.
If you haven’t already, check out Vital’s latest PIT BITS for a quick overview of Reece’s particular setup. While there is a lot of interesting tech on Reece’s bike, one defining feature is the prototype raised reversed stem manufactured by Be More Bikes. Reece combines this stem with high rise bars to create a tall stack with reduced reach. This...

in scandal mag, jim bland, luca's mechanic, thinks 32" front wheels are coming (in what i would assume is DH since he's a DH mechanic). seems like it wouldn't be hard for any of the inverted brands to make a 32" fork for this upcoming season (assuming tires are available, which i bet they are). he also says cone valves in forks, so maybe some other hint development? #nonEbikeRumors

Assuming it's a high pivot idler setup, you won't see a massive difference as the idler mitigates a lot of the pedal kickback already. If it is without an idler you'll see a big improvement as it will negate the very high pedal kickback high pivot bikes have. One thing to consider is that on certain bikes the pedal kickback during compression is actually beneficial as it aids pumping to generate speed. A bike with no chain does not pump as nicely as a bike with a chain where the chain growth will stiffen the suspension during the compression making...

I too think that unless you get a custom tune, there is no guarantee of a performance improvement as the standard tune of many off-the-shelf shocks might not be right for your bike. I have had a good experience with the new RockShox vivid air. It feels supple off the top for an air shock. I'm running it on two...

Vivid Air Ultimate. I've been running them since launch on 4 different bikes (sold 2), and had zero issues. It's a really nice middle ground of air and coil... easy to dial in, good sensitivity, good bottom out support. I know several other guys who've gotten them for various bikes and all loved them too. New version with minor tweaks is about to launch alongside Zeb in April, so might be able to find a brand new one on sale.

Fine if you feel that way, but I try to ask for riders opinions on the current state of the sport and also anything happening inside so people from the outside can learn more, Finns response was great and a lot people enjoyed his opinions. I interview riders who are doing well in the race, on race day my video is to tell the story of the race. I can't make a judgement on a case where no one actually knows the full story, and we never will it seems, so until then I will interview the riders who performed...

First of all, this is an exceptional article that is well done, is not even biased towards e-bikes and it puts some facts and data to the comparison between the two I was on team anti-E bike for years thinking how core I was & that E's were for newbs and lazy people. But after a catastrophic knee injury & multiple surgeries, an E was the only thing that kept me moving outdoors in my beautiful mountains (gravel roads) vs sitting on a fan bike in my house... my sense of gratefulness to even be out on simple zero-gnar gravel...

Except Orwell never actually said that at all, so get back on your Google machine and do some research because you are actually talking about yourself & your ideas, not Orwell or this article... did you even read it? What Orwell was talking about at the time was some intellectuals who supported totalitarianism – and obviously this article is about Ebikes - with data - and making strong point about training zones, so your quote & logic here is about as relevant and sharp as a spent chainring

Loved this quick clip. The man knows what he's talking about. Obviously, as others have pointed out, there's an ocean of difference between a casual rider who gets on an ebike and unconsciously drops their intensity level to something comfortable vs. a professional athlete who's tearing their heart out in high-intensity training blocks and using an ebike for structured low-intensity recovery rides. But for the professional athlete, I imagine an ebike is a godsend for spicing up the zone 2 training and recovery.

Where i live its either up or down. Mostly steep. It is pretty much a hard job to even stay in z3. The e bike therefore helps a lot. Ride the same trails, stay in Z2. Builds base, needs less recovery. go full blast with the spaghetti powered bike, build strength and explosivity, needs more recovery. Yes you could also go full ham on the ebike and train anaerobic and sprints. Even Threshold would also be easly possible (probably the hardest on the e-bike i guess..) so you could argue you don't need the spaghetti bike for training reasons. A...
