A 36 lbs e bike is probably equivalent to a 29 lbs trail bike. Light tires, lots of carbon, not durable. a 36 lbs trail bike is hopefully cheap and durable

It is probably a great bike, but that model is built with the same parts as you would find on a WC XC race bike, fox 34s, XC carbon wheels and tires etc. Not really comparable to a 35lbs trail bike. I Wish everyone would just list frame weights, parts are all third party and not specific to the frame anyway.

It seems to me that there's a lack of proper journalism in mountain biking i.e. who's asking ESO, Discovery etc the difficult questions given what Discovery's investment was supposed to bring to EWS.

Pretty disheartening to see all of these athletes without a ride but to be honest I’m surprised any brands are fielding an EDR team at this point. Zero coverage last year and sounds like 2024 will be its last season. Why would you pump cash into a sinking ship? Separately I wonder how old Chris Ball is feeling about all this? Yes probably not too badly on his big pile of cash but there must be some conflicting emotions seeing as EWS was his baby for an entire decade.

Could dropping Bex be a move to clear some race budget for a DH rider?

I believe the only other non-ebike enduro racer for Yeti last season was Slawomir Lukasik. He hasn't announced he was dropped, but he's not a known name and is probably just getting his gear and travel paid for (AKA cheap to have on roster). Bex on the other hand, probably was demanding a real contract/salary. Maybe they hired her with expectation of multiple podiums and top 3 overall and she didn't hit that mark. And g iven the state of the market, they're cutting her contract just to be able to afford Ritchie and maybe pay for the new DH...

I don't blame the UCI/WB for this one. The cat got out of the bag when we allowed mopeds on the trails. Just wait until multi-use trails start banning mtb. I'm already hearing grumblings from non-bikers about the "dangerous e-bikes".

Top 3 overall. Podiums at multiple rounds. More social media presence. Who knows? They do. Brands expect a ROI, this is especially difficult in sport that increasingly less people watch or care about. She certainly won't alone in not having a ride in '24.

Sitting here in a shoulder sling for 6 weeks of rotator cuff surgery healing and getting bummed out that human powered sport is dying at the hands of greedy capitalists who realized they can monopolize free internet content with enough money, regulation & moped batteries.
