I'd wager a lot of it has to do with some finance nerd looking at things and going "we need to maximize the efficiency of our R&D spend". Two locations, two teams, even connected remotely isn't the same output, especially against a limited amount of fertile ground, as putting everyone under one roof. The fact that some will go elsewhere, is probably seen as a feature not a bug, considering what you are saying. Sad, but true. Darren, I feel like you probably already know this, or at least you should already know it, but this is a ridiculous claim and isn’t a defensible patent based on prior art. There are multiple previously existing fenders for inverted forks have attached the fender to the stanchion guards. Off the top of my head: 1.The Manitou Dorado has had fender a fender that is integrated into the stanchion guards since at least 2019. 2. non owners a fixated on 3 things: - they think the chassis is a noodle (mostly debunked these days) - they think they need a damper upgrade right out of the box (slowly getting less too these days) - they think they need leg guards (still very common) get one, ride it, get rid of your prejudices…

Unfortunately (for now), all of the guards on the market are way more expensive than just purchasing an extra stanchion ( 200-250 for guards vs. 70 for a stanchion). Makes way more sense to just have an extra stanchion on hand. FWIW, after owning my Edge for 3 years, I had my first major stanchion scare the other day, and I wasn't even riding. Had my bike propped up just outside my garage, my son bumped it, and the stanchion hit the corner of the brick entry and proceeded to slide down the brick corner, grinding the whole way.....not a...

The only Intend guard options I am aware of are the Rulezman carbon fiber ones (very $), or a newer option that looks to be 3D printed out of the Santa Cruz area. https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/3998707/ Intend also offers all forks (?) as a Blackline option which is a different lower leg/lug design that includes metal guards. The Flash pictured above was ordered as the version without the guards as it needed to be Torque cap compatible. It is being run without guards for the time being, fingers crossed.

New game - one hub, two caps-s. Hadley XC front hub with standard 15mm endcaps vs properly executed torque caps. Will I be able to tell a difference in torque stiffness of my Intend fork?

A sales manager at Shimano just built up a Digit Ring and sent me some photos. It has an unusual Pro Tharsis handlebar which I've not seen any reporting on*. I gets fatter each side of the stem, and it's not round each side of the stem either. A fatter diameter normally indicates a stiffer structure which I'd normally be wary of, but I'm told the shaping makes this is as compliant as the OneUp handlebar. It does look pretty sick. Both the bar and stem have cable-tourism routing - but they don't seem to be noticeable on my cable-into-the-downtube...

Based on where that 2mm bolt sits, it looks like they've reworked the SwingLink (26 in first diagram) to be more like the Pushrod (18 in second diagram) in the Base lever. Appears that it's adjustable as well. More/less leverage is my guess. Ultimate / Bronze Base

I used to work in sawmills, they were/are large employers in many small towns across the US and Canada. Let's say in an older 2 line sawmill you would need 30 people to run a shift and you would run 2 shifts a day (just to run the machines, no management or trades). If you install a new sawmill now you can have 4 people processing the same amount of lumber. Will more industry bring more money to the US? Yes. Will it bring more jobs? Probably not as many as people are expecting.

The last draw benches suitable for aluminum bicycle tubing in the United States were bought by Boeing from a facility in CT(in a building built specifically to handle all the aluminum profiles and bar stock for Cannondale)in 2015 and are now being used to make replacement parts for b52 toilets. I worked with the New Haven chamber of commerce and an angel investor to re-start that facility to serve the remaining domestic 6061 frame builders for a few years, we even managed to draw a bunch of 7005 profiles for a few friends.
