Camera work at Poland was incredible. Commentating is fine with Gwin in the both. Regarding Enduro coverage, the manufacturers/teams need to take this on themselves. It is obvious that UCI/WB are killing coverage, although this week was better than last week. Simple MBA bro logic. 100% of the 'core' fans is maybe a couple of hundred thousand if you are lucky......and they will watch regardless of how much you piss them off because they are already invested. 0.0001% of casual sports fans is multi millions of viewers. It's obvious who you pitch to. The vast majority of 'new' F1 fans have little deep routed interest in the sport beyond watching shiny rich people bitch about each other like an episode of Housewives of Somewhere......just look at the number of YT 'F1 explained like you have had major head trauma' vids out...

As far as the actual coverage goes, besides the commentary it seems just as good if not better than Redbull. I think people are looking at the past with rose colored glasses, Redbull would have weird camera angles and mess ups all the time as well. Im a big fan and even with the reduced number of men and women in finals it makes for a long broadcast its about 3 and a half hours long and to be honest when a guy has a big mistake or is obviously behind the pace and its not a bigger name you...

Coverage has been fine. Eurosport have a decent stream, but they are a pain to figure out the language (basically a different page per language, but all pages have the same title). I ended up watching the french commentary, Gracia and some other guy. Gracia was so much better than last year in English. He was excited, but actually making good observations. I wonder if the production team had briefed him to be the overhype guy last year to contrast to Rick.

Certainly beats staring at a live timing page. The free coverage of juniors has been great too.

This is my question, especially when the former owners have already hung up their spurs once and chosen to retire. I hope they put 100% into Kona 2.0, but my brain is suspicious until I see it. Running a bike company seems like a constant drinking-from-a-firehose situation, and they're coming back from sipping Mojito's on the beach, living off that corporate sell-out money. That's a tough transition.

Not really imo. Fox doesn’t really seem to be on top, and they seem to cater to certain teams. Gwin is a business man, to be a good one you can’t be afraid to make a change no matter what the history.

Just a thought: I am the WC commentator for my country. Broadcast has been done today, on Monday, on something like a live replay. I am actually on my way back to my home town, from the main studio. I prepared for 10+30 riders for the finals, with info on bikes, team changes and what not. I think I ended up doing 5+10 at best. Broadcast was sandwiched between snooker and Giro. I am honestly curious what the viewership is on DH compared to snooker and Giro. I don't know what was on when these events were live, but it's...

I personally enjoyed the commentary way more than last year. Ric seems to have improved a lot, there were far fewer interruptions and people (Gwin, mainly) being talked over. As far as the 10 women and 30 men is concerned, one thing that hasn't been mentioned is that it's less compelling to go and watch live with fewer riders on track for finals. As one commenter on the other site said, it's questionable if it's worth taking the gondola to the top of the track as time is limited to get back down to the bottom for the last riders...

Oh boy, after all the bashing of 2023 now people want CG back in the booth, shows you can never please everyone. I honestly think commentating a race is a two people job. You bring in a third and then they start tripping on eachother, it is just too fast for three people at the same time (excluding a flash interview or something similar) Ric is a decent communicator but he will never get us hyped as Rob did. But for now, the Ric/ Aaron, or even the Ric/ Tahnee combo is fine for me

Having Gwin in the box was great---but (I can't believe I'm saying this) they need Cedric back or something. To replace the stoke, the hype, the excitement. The broadcast (especially womens) was very "meh" in terms of "energy". After the race was complete, the wife and I watched the RedBull Race Tapes episode about Finn and Loic from the '23 season. There was some audio overlay from the race commentary of Cedric getting hyped. We both remarked that it was more exciting w/Cedric (or Rob/Claudio). Ten women in the final was way too few after seeing half the finalist share the podium afterward. How does this look for those new watchers who don't know to follow qualifier or the semi, which wasn't even broadcast? If they have more racers available for the final, then they should utilize them for the big show. 30 men in the final was alright, but again, so much of the story is missing if we can't watch the up and comers who are battling with the top guys to get a good result. I miss seeing guys like Atwill, Frixtalon...

Nope, it's Drum & Bass, as in the music used on it. Some people abbreviate it to DNB. The fancy studio shots before the big dogs ride showing off the bikes and kit look fairly pro, and the amount of course covered was nice, but that's totally undone by not broadcasting semis, zero communication about why, and then making it so hard for people who either want to or indeed have paid to watch the finals live. It was easy enough for me to find on the Discovery app, but it doesn't sound like many people shared that experience.

I actually think the 30 men 10 women is necessary for the sport going forward. I think it's fine. We need a better TV product, 60 30 isn't it, it's terrible. It takes way to long, you don't see most people's runs anyway, and then we arbitrarily swap timing for the top 10 to have full viewed runs anyway. What we need is a proper continental series behind the WC and to develop a legit feeder series. Look at how many men's entrants there at Fort Bill. It's ridiculous, they're racing for 60th and get no coverage or prize money...

While I definitely agree with Rachel that 30 men and 10 women is too few for finals (by a lot). The semis stuff doesn't make sense. It was only introduced last year . They trialed coverage and with the small time gaps between riders it was canned cos it's a mess to produce I imagine. So seen as RB TV never broadcast qualis and semis is a new thing (that sucks) I don't see how it's gone backwards. 🥱

AFAIK there has never been coverage of qualis. Pretty shit that they've dropped the semis coverage though, I didn't tune in to many of them last year as I found it was too much to view in one day, but I had thought I'd be more interested to watch this year as they're a day earlier. Now there's no coverage it makes them seem more pointless than ever.

Asa's time is currently 2nd fastest of the weekend- only Bruni went faster in qualies. SHEESH
