Oh boy. It will be interesting to see how this goes. I did some digging and I obviously don't speak German nor am I well versed in German bankruptcy proceedings but what appears to have happened is the old YT Industries (HRB 8353) is in an insolvency proceedings with debts parked there and the new YT (12277) is controlled by Flossman and is taking over the brand and operations. This most certainly means the creditors take a (big) haircut, equity (of prior company) is completely wiped (private equity marks the company to 0) and the "new" company is buying assets...

Yes, but also no. I lean towards no. There's some continuity in its designs, and some of the former employees work there again*, but the company was wound up and then the IP acquired in a liquidation sale. Vitus would be an easier question. It was a zombie brand that was merely resurrected out of Nukeproof's design office and supply chain, so unambiguously not the same company. Even if they rehired Sean Kelly as a brand ambassador. * But only because they were pursued by the new owners – there's a clear discontinuity in their terms of employment. Edit: before...

I think Southern California accounts for ~90% of ebikes as commuter/family/etc use. It's legitimately getting to the point where... We could use full on 'bikeways' for bicycles traveling at higher speeds than average joes on a beach cruiser but much slower than a motorcycle on a highway. Bring back the OG Pasadena Cycleway! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Cycleway (Especially with how poor the existing cycling infrastructure is... Now would be a good time to create separated paths if it gets the ebikes away from cars/pedestrians.) Sorry, obligatory 'traffic in LA' rant.

Don't forget, this is brought to you by the same people as the Design & Innovation Awards, the self-proclaimed "Oscar of the Bike & Outdoor Industry." A judged contest that is free to enter, but 3,450 Euro (plus VAT) to claim if you are the lucky recipient of the precious award. Need more cash, just add more categories for brands to enter, and then select (extort) winning products most likely to pay the ransom.

Literally just came to the forum today to ask about opinions on the dual krypto fr combo. I'm running krypto fr/xyno right now and it's fun till you hit the steep and loose stuff. I'd just get the krypto Re, but this way I could potentially run the same tire front and back while keeping a little of the zippiness from the Xyno. (Enduro/soft if you're wondering with a CC trail insert in the back, I'm 215 over here)

Just a heads up, Fox Factory and GoPro both report results tonight. I'll do my best to aggregate results, listen to conference calls (at least with Fox) and put a little post together. Cheers!

Hey Nukeproof: seems like there’s a pretty good distributor and marketing infrastructure set up in the US if you’re looking to move into that market. Give Jeff Taylor a call. Now opening Bentonville and San Clemente locations: the Nukeproof Bunker.

bankruptcy folk only have an obligation to the creditors. If the perceived value of liquidating the physical products and selling the ip at auction outweighs any offers they are not obligated to force a deal to keep employees employed. Especially if Markus is willing to overpay for the ip to keep it his. I have little doubts that liscencing to yt USA was entirely possible if Marcus had the goal of making it happen. I think it’s entirely plausible those “laughable” offers did bid low versus auctioning every physical asset and Marcus buying the ip. But they were probably meant...

I’ve never met Markus. All I know of him is what anyone can see online, an Instagram account, a few YouTube clips, and the ripple effects of his decisions. Still, there’s a recognizable pattern here, one as old as business itself, fueled by ego, greed, selfishness, and (yeah) incompetence. There’s real research showing a correlation between traits in the "dark triad" and founder/CEO personalities. Add in that around five percent of the population shows sociopathic or psychopathic tendencies, and that building any company requires a certain level of delusion, and well...you see what I'm trying to say. From 30,000 feet...

Jeff, I appreciate your reminder that maaaaaaaybe things aren't as simple as they appear, and maybe don't break down into good guy vs. bad guy storylines as clearly as we would like. Perhaps this is a simple story of a sociopath with too much power ruining people's lives on purpose, or maybe it's more complicated than that.
