I wasn't really surprised by Gwin's crash either. I had a gut feeling that he was carrying too much speed into the woods and that something was bound to give. At that speed he was forced to take the low/outside line, which ultimately was his undoing. To make the high/inside he would've had to slow up. Perhaps that hole got worse throughout the day, but my spidey sense started tingling right when he came into that section.

I liked it, especially in the podcast format so I could listen to the audio while making breakfast, then scroll the pictures quickly while I'm eating.

yeah, i'm still undecided, but i feel like w/ the length of interviews, the majority of viewers aren't going to sit on a single photo for 2-6 minutes while a single audio plays. if you advance the photo w/ the older format, the audio gets cut off. this seems like the best way to have the photos/captions in the best presentation w/ access to the full audio interviews. it's a rad problem to have so much incredible content that we can't figure out how to display it all LOL.

Very Banshee Legend-esque. I'd venture to guess most of those geo adjustments are for fine tuning the prototype. I'm assuming you won't see those on the production model.

Agreed. All the smooth transitions and solid rocker links make them look bulky and lethargic. I'm sure they're tough and strong, but I imagine they would sell more bikes if they had a sleeker, more nimble appearance. Actual seat tube angles are a problem with most brands, not just Kona. Hopefully that's the next geometry change we see that becomes the hot new trend. Long, low, slack, and STEEP!

The beauty of this sport is that its the riders and their teams that make it so exciting to watch. Its how serious everyone is about going as fast as possible, regardless of the terrain. If you told them to show up to a grassy hill with flagged turns, they'd start slashing ruts and playing with tire and suspension settings. Its what they do: they go as fast as possible in the given situation. The track is part of the equation, but its the drama and tension of competition that makes it so engaging. #longlivedownhill

Thoughts: track looks like it will hard to go fast on. Regardless of your opinion on the nature of the track, or if its something you'd want to personally ride, as a racetrack you want something that is difficult to go fast on. This opens up the potential for someone to risk it all for a big result = great racing. I think racing needs more hucking and full-pull gaps. I'm thinking we will probably see high pivot bikes do well here. Can't wait for Sunday Sunday Sunday!

Eh, trail/offset is likely going to come down to a thousand other variables (okay, not a thousand, but a lot). Just like anything, its a tool a bike designer or racer can use to manipulate the handling characteristics of a bike. What might work for one rider, won't work for another.
