Dont hate guys, as old as this frame technology is. Gwin would still win a world cup on one. and only a 1/4 of you would even notice a difference from that to a bike as hyped up as a carbon V10.

The rule does not allow the Commiss to make a judgment to *not* DQ a rider under any circumstances - it only allows the Commiss to DQ a rider. Nor does the rule allow the Commiss to *not* DQ a rider for "no advantage gained" where a rider exits and re-enters at a different point - the decision appears to conflict with the rule on two counts. ^^THIS. The rule needs to be black and white, and enforced strictly. The riders need to be aware of the rule when on course, and if they forget to re-enter at the same point then they will be penalized for it. Remember, Rachel made a mistake. She landed the jump wrong, which put her off line, causing her to exit the course. Its only fair that she lose the time required to push back up to the point where she went off. Even if the UCI commisar acted within their power, I still think the rule should be black and white. Any time you allow a judgement call you allow bias to play a role. Break the tape, gotta re-enter at the same point. Simple, just like skiing. Not to get all conspiracy theorist on this, but Rachel is sponsored by Red Bull, and Red Bull Media House produces these presentations. You do the math.

I also think the ruling was bad. Tapes and poles can be used to tighten a course as well as stop cutting. Go outside a pole, get DQed. GT and Rachel should give up the win and take it on the chin, all in the name of good sportsmanship.

i only said rachel's pace was above all b/c of her split time before she crashed. that's all. my personal opinion is that the tape rule need to be black and white. if you break the tape, no matter where, you enter where you exited regardless of advantage, line and all those things up for interpretation.

How can you say Rachel's pace was above all other women's? would you equally agree that had Emmeline had crossed the line on her bike instead of pushing it she would have won by a country mile? instead she lost second spot by 0.045 sec and top spot by 0.307 sec Emmeline has due cause to be upset & don't forget that Tracey should have been the winner today. rachel knew she should have been out shame she doesn't have the courage to come out and show herself as a sporting personality.

but it wasn't a technicality, it was an error on rachel's part. she flailed, broke the tape and re-entered down the track. i'm playing devil's advocate here, nothing against rachel at all and the UCI made their decision. her pace was clearly above all the other women.

fffwhoa that was intense! Short track, lot's of drama. Women's race was carnage, only Rachel managed to clear that last jump (comfortably, by the looks of it). However, I don't understand this cutting the course business....I thought the rule was simple: go outside a pole and you're DQed. Like Peaty last year. "Gained no advantage"....well, you could say that she gained the advantage of being able to recover and continue a run that she had failed to keep inside the tape. Isn't that what the tape is there for? I don't want to take anything away from Rachel, but we're...

You're not too far off there. I appreciate that these products push technology forward, but they should remain in the prototype stage until they can be proved to be superior on all levels (weight, strength, simplicity, maintenance, cost, performance). If Specialized really wanted to make the best DH bike they could, they'd start with the 2007 SX Trail, go carbon and modify it to run 8" travel and have DH angles. Shock is plenty low, it only uses one rear end instead of two, etc etc. You could probably drop another pound easy off the frame and have it look...

Domestic companies keeping things inhouse, which creates living-wage manufacturing jobs (Intense, Ventana, Foes, Ellsworth, etc.) vs companies that outsource manufacturing overseas. Bikes made offshore can be just as good or even better than domestic ones, but you need to think about...
