Are budgets that tight that a few world cup teams wouldnt send entries considering lots of riders talk about how much they love MSA. Seasons nearly over , most don't have anything to race for.

Timing. If it was the weekend before Whistler you might see more euros stop on the way over. Southern hemisphere racers have gone home during the break and the western North American racers don’t want to do more travel. It’s almost quicker to get London from Vancouver than it is to get MSA
Red Bull Cerro Abajo Stuttgart is on this weekend, there's A THREAD with all the info and course preview and where the link to the live tomorrow will be up etc (also super rad seeing the women unlock more and more of the features, maybe a full pull about to go down, which as far as we can recall would be a first).
If you haven’t listened to the downtime with Shawn, it’s really great. I’m very impressed with the entrepreneurial mindset that they’re approaching the series (in some ways it’s a test case for the true potential money maker of their app and race coverage).
Hope that collegeiate schedule coordinates a little better with them next year, as the Durango MSC race was the same date as the opening collegiate races at powderhorn, forcing a lot of gravity kids to choose between the two.
At our series finale, the Pro Men class was a rematch between Lucas DeDora, Austin Dooley and Nik Nestoroff after they went 1-2-3 at the last race at Grand Targhee. DeDora came out on top with a 3:08.161, 1.396 seconds ahead of Dooley, and Nestoroff's third place sealed the Pro Men series title: 182 points across four rounds. Pro Women went to Teagan Heap in 3:48.389, her first win of the season after second at Targhee, 4.444 ahead of Ainsley Wolf with Abby Ronca third.

It's so cool to see a track I race 25 years ago. Asa in his clip goes way high in the 1st right hander & as he merges w/ the other rider, you can see the original next turn around the back of the taped tree. I post too much about it, but it was all just a raw ditch & the "dip" they hit was near vertical. Then slam the ditch to get behind the tree & turn down & right around it. The roots of that tree came loose from the silt & were sticking up like a rope across the track. So naturally, it hooked my right foot. Flipped me over upside down suspended in mid-air. Course marshall up the bank goes "Haven't seen that before." Never moved to help. Took 3 people to get me untangled. Next lap, the root was gone. 🤣

Rock drop around the left hand tree used to be 2 bar widths wide. Could only hug the tree & rock crawl the boulders before, during and down the drop. Now you just pin it ?

The line you remember from NORBA days was virtually un-rideable any longer and definitely not race able.
I agree they could’ve taped it different to add a touch more difficulty, but sadly the original version wasn’t even possible.

Yeah the current course looks wide open, it fits the namesake of US Open. Would have been cool to see this guys ride Barney Rubble like the old NORBA course had and the rock drop into the ski piste.

Yeah...have they said why they took out the only technical part? Crowds were rowdy in there. One run Palmer came bouncing into a tree in Barney Rubble on Voreis borrowed @AllRide bike on a run with Peaty in jeans. Can't remember why Napalm wasn't racing DH at the time?
The other BIG thing was seeing the wall Josh Bender filmed his famous "huck to broken". ORealized it was a hopeless slam into an uphill ditch, I understood he wasn't concerned with killing himself. Zero chance of sticking it.
@sspomer weren't you present for the Bender huck at Deer Valley?
After watching the Luca / Tyler helmet cam for Deer Valley, with all of Tyler's laughing and excitement, it had me questioning if this is one of the better race tracks we have in the US... All of this nostalgia and hate about the new track seems like a lot of hot air - it's not the track that's available, get over it.
I was then reflecting on Nick's helmet cam from Durango for MSC - that looked really effing sweet and a bit more full on of a track.
10-ply from Nationals looked sick too.
I'm a diehard NW Cup guy and will rep Scott and Casey until my eyes bleed, but after Skibowl closed, there really aren't demanding tracks in the series.
Overall, just has me curious how are riders onsite thinking about this course compared to other US tracks? What is the benchmark now in the lower 48 for "best race track"? Obviously if we broaden just a bit for our friends up north, Panorama, Sun Peaks, MSA, Bromont, Whistler (now) all have incredible, world class race tracks.
US Open tracks have always been designed to be ridden by anyone that wants to enter so it caters to the masses just not the pros. A 13 year old kid can take a shot at beating AG if he wants. Killington was this way as well, it’s why it’s an Open race

And the "Best Race Track" in the US doesn't exist any more. It was & always will be Mount Snow 1999. They cut a fresh 2 lane road wide, unlimited lines track through the woods. Myles Rockwell beat Steve Peat while riding the bottom half on a blown shock. Waterfall. Yard Sale. Naked Crit. Monk Dawg on a pit bike.
