Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
I would say definitely. Unfortunately she crashed before it happened, so I’m betting the UCI was like… 🤷♂️
Edit: just saw an Instagram post from the other site where they interviewed her, and the UCI denied her a rerun. Wack.
Suddenly I'm a fan of the 3-rider podium!
There was some #USDH action this weekend too. Here's Vital RAW from Windrock DHSE. Dak, Gwin and Grice present among others.
"Bring back fi... four man podiums!!"
I get the UCI decision. Otherwise, your team could literally put a plan in place that if you fall, you have a random dog walker let the leash out if they get a call your rider fell up the hill. Wait for the signal, walk a pooch on course. Rider comes to a dead stop.
Re-Run.
FINALLY...someone ran the wireless Roll Off trigger from Risk Racing!!!

Never had to take his hand off the bars.
Been told certain team(s) can't run it even if they wanted due to goggle company contracts.
Watching guys rip, tug, tug, tug in a sport where 2nd-4th were 1 second apart & 6th-10th were 0.5 second apart, we're taking our hand off the bars & yanking for vision.
Yeah that seems like a reasonable technological solution, but I hate that it's this douchebag that's bringing it into DH.
Continuing Neko's line of commentary... this is not the first situation where Daprela didn't take his hands off when everyone else would have.
I keep seeing all this hate towards Daprela. What has he been convicted of?
Well , you can Check Jackson’s goggles if that helps you😉
No convictions as far as what is publicly available, but he has been accused of sexual assault , and his pattern of behavior has been corroborated by many pros and support staff in the pits. He was also dropped by 2 teams in quick succession, so there is definitely some credence to the claims.
So it's hearsay? Just a rumor? Like deporting a US citizen because he looks like an illegal immigrant?
Thank you. When I watched, I thought it was Danny Hart so I rewound & didn't see them on him. They clipped Jackson's run so short, I missed him when I rewound to look. So his goggle sponsor didn't object? Could tell both stripped the Risk Racing logos to avoid conflicts.
My egotistical brain wants to think my posts about them in the forums last year maybe made a few team managers or racers aware the product existed. I mean...I rant about them. Then they appear.
Or were racers running the Risk Racing trigger in the past???
This is a biking forum so I don't want to get derailed too much but NO!, of course I'm not in favor of extrajudicial unconstitutional attacks on minorities. I also hate the guy that's been doing that (also has a ton of SA allegations). At least in the US, not sure about elsewhere, but less than 4% of sexual assaults wind up in convictions. So while yeah, the government shouldn't jail somebody without conviction in a court of law, the participants in a sport that can be exceedingly bro-y should definitely call out and shun people who have a predatory pattern of behavior and who have been accused of sexual assault by a reputable source.
there's a dedicated thread to what you guys are discussing. use the search, find it and talk there.
I didn't realize that. I was just wondering where are the hate was coming from. Back to race talk!
Well sure, I could see that.
In this case it was a UCI course marshal running down the track in front of her. Seems like they could maybe grant some leeway under the circumstances.
I thought this was pretty interesting, I don't see that it's been posted already.
Looking at points & timing, she was nine seconds back from 12th place & 3 seconds back from Blewitt in 13th.
So if he hadn't been there, she might would have eclipsed Blewitt only.
Worth 5 points in the overall. Sucks but doubt the guy hung her up 9 seconds.
Finals Points
12th - Bouladou - 44 pts
13th - Blewitt - 40 pts
14th - Harddon - 35 pts
I know there are a ton of Neko fanboys in here--I'm one of them. But he cannot be left alone in the booth with just Rick. Once Josh left the booth the energy and excitement level just dropped off. I was feeling the lack of energy (towards the latter half of the men's finals), and my wife also made a comment about how the commentary turned very low energy. Neko's commentary itself is great, in terms of knowledge, but Neko is a very chill/cool dude by his nature. He doesn't 'hype' or get fired up like Josh, which is helpful to keep people engaged and excited. I think if they can have Rick, Josh and Neko in the booth, that is a great crew. Rick to 'run the show', Josh for data/info/hype and Neko as additional technical analysis so that it's not just up to Josh and Rick the entire show. ... It looks like Josh left the booth early to start getting additional finish line interviews, which were great, but not worth sacrificing the main show for.
Right. But she went down hard before the incident with the marshal. It’s probably the main reason the UCI was like, no. She would’ve had a better chance of not crashing on another run…
Richie was someone I thought lost alot of time with tear offs. It was very noticeable when he had to stop cranking to sit and pull a tear off.
It's even simpler than Richie, but he definitely had the most to gain from the tech.
To put it simply, 7 riders finished a single 10th from a better placing. 1/10th of a second from more points, a better result & leap frogging the guy just ahead of them. That's 23% of the field who could have flipped their time with it.
It's worth at LEAST that much time on track isn't it?
Rick cut Neko off a few times, which he did with Gwin, too. That seemed to zap Neko's energy.
this makes no sense to me. what happens during cautions and red flags in other racing sports? competitive advantages are often lost by those out front. there was significant interference on the track. she deserves a re-run if she protested (which it sounds like she did).
before the "pedestrian" she could have the run of her life at the bottom and earned another spot or two at the bottom earning 5 or 10 additional points. they all add up.
if this was an olympic run, would there be a re-run? 100%. UCI claims to be olympic-level racing.
Vital RAW from NW Cup #2
Just guessing that the broadcast schedule played into their decision.
And I am impressed with Oisins result on regular non-mud tyres. He was running Kryptotals front and back on a track that definitely warranted mud or at least intermediate spikes…
What a talent
So does the team get some kind of remboursement as they have paid to enter an event, a series and been "taken for a ride"?
Here's something to think on regarding new format and points awarded?
Elite men example:
-Points only in Q1 for top 20 ( fastest 50pts/ slowest 5pts)
-No points in Q2
-Points in final for top 30 ( fastest 250pts/ slowest 30pts)
If you're a rider that consistently finishes 21st - 30th in Q1 and goes 11th-15th in Q2 not only will you never race in a final but you will have 0 points to show for an entire season even though on average you would be considered a top 25 rider in the world. With no points to show after what would normally be considered a good season, what's the value to their team? Also, I imagine that UCI/WBD will continue to use '24 UCI points to build their start list for the next race because outside of Polands top 30 no other riders currently have points... Hmmm.... Thoughts?
I miss the five rider podiums.
Also I think Hattie should have got a rerun. Its a no exceptions rule, every racer gets a clear course. If we start playing favorites why even have rules.
