Honestly with Whiteface on the calendar this season (and for a few more to come likely) we just need one more race here in the US to put DH on the map in North America (mainly because we have US Open too.

A lot of people say west coast, but I think we need a Colorado race, some of the best ever US DH tracks have been in CO!

With Vermette, Blevins, Amos, Batten etc... all from CO and the Durango bid for 2030 Worlds we need that WC ASAP

It does seem like the Forrest Service requires a whole lot of money, studies, and surveying to open new trails. A trail versus a full on WC track is something else. Seems like it could be a heavy lift to make it happen and a chicken or the egg type of situation. The specific resort may want approval to build the trail before pitching the location to the UCI and the Forrest Service would want the UCI approval before approving a proper DH track.

I think Jackson Hole is the best resort, on the Grand Tetons, the best mountain, to put a new world cup track on. There is so much money there, too. Hit an east coast track, hit MSA, hit Jackson Hole, hit Japan!

Just focus on places that are on private land.  Just off the top of my head for places out west: Granby Ranch in CO, Angel Fire, Big Sky, Northstar.  I'm sure there are others.  Still a heavy lift to host a WC, but it at least removes the Forest Service as a hurdle.

Sorry to destroy a good / bad conspiracy but Jackson has injury status which means he is good to race.

Would think the top dogs of the MTB media would know the rules.

bernard's christchurch quali day video - many mentions of how pedally the course is, definitely rocky!

sidenote - the way @Sven Martin talks about tree padding with needles, this crankworx course has about 6 pads on the most random trees.

Sven is not (really) saying Jackson wont be able to race but that the team might drop below the top 15 and have to apply for a wild card spot.  I don't recall if the Wild Card teams get the good pits or but I don't think so.

Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Signs 5-Year Partnership with Leogang for World Cup Racing

The organisers at Leogang put on a great event, there is a heap of accommodation walking distance to the venue for riders, teams and visitors and there are always big crowds.

Apart from some riders not liking while other riders like the track what’s not to want or like?

they just locked in Leogang as a venue. They have the broadcasting rights until 2030 already.

Have the other current venues signed similar agreements?

considering the longevity of some venues hosting WCs, it doesn't seem all that monumental, does it? kind of surprising with the likes of MSA or Ft Bill that they never had some kind of multi-year deal in place and just went year-to-year agreeing to work together.

That is a good way to look at it, when you know some of the pieces of the puzzle it is easer to put together a season.

I think some of the disdain for Leogang is because of the relative mundane nature of the track. There are a few spicy sections connected together by really boring sections where the only thing that carries the broadcast and race is the discussion of suspension tech and tire selection. I think that is interesting but after the 10th time talking about one of the three tire choices the field is on I'm pretty over it.

MSA and Ft Bill are always hitters tracks top to bottom, all thriller no filler, so going there year after year organically creates a compelling race.

Logistics and economics aside what made the 2017/2018 era EWS so special was their willingness to travel the entire globe and put on events where no one had a of history of competition in. Every sport is most interesting when the teams and athletes are taken out of their comfort zone and success is based on instinct and knowledge gained from past performance.
