Was Laurent running the team with Lapierre when Danny got 3rd at the '09 Jnr Worlds? He went to Giant the next year.

I know it's Rumours, so we're not supposed to stamp them out...but people gotta stop thinking Gwin is gonna dump WC to go full time WindRock.  It's absurd.

Neko & Sean ran it for several years now without having to be present full time.  Sean's infrastructure & logistics blueprint is firmly in place & peak summer isn't as demanding of ownership as fall/winter/spring. Hart & Atherton's have parks they don't drop WC for.

It's a silly thought.

Dirty laundry getting aired on that podcast?

I'd call it constructive criticism. The discussion was around choosing riders for a team and that the family plays a large role in how someone fits into a team. He used Danny and his dad as one of the examples.

Fits the narrative I've been told.

There's an up and comer or two who has parenting with that same reputation.

I think Laurent said he started running the Lapierre team in 2007. He must have been referring to Danny not continuing with team after '09.

I was just thinking, with Gwin buying Windrock besides the obvious of it being an investment to make money off the bike park. He is working towards a moto style sort of training compound eg: Bakers Factory, Club MX, Star Farm. Gwin and Dak are both moto guys so they know how that works.

Whether it be training a team he's managing or being a third party other teams pay for his services. Tons of lodging on site and riding Windrock every day along with training and riding against other world cup athletes is a huge advantage.

I don't think Gwin will bow out of racing this coming year (I imagine he's going to want the cash flow from a salary while taking over a new business if nothing else). That being said, I think you're onto something with the Club MX comparison. Dak said that very thing on the B-Practice Podcast, talking about how MTB doesn't have a Club MX-style facility where you can go, have all your fitness/nutrition needs taken care of on-site, and have a controlled, supportive environment that simulates WC tracks and allows for accurate testing and training. I would imagine that it's something that he and Gwin have discussed over their time together on IFR. I don't know that Windrock will become that place, but it would be real cool if it did.

I don't think so. Screenshots of all the faces are over on the Pink site.

I agree, I think he will race for another year or two maybe longer but when he's done id bet this is his plan. Not only gives his team or other pros a place to train there but all the up and comers in the USA a place their parents can send them to for the season to train/ride boot camp style. This is all standard operating procedure for moto for a long time but anyways back to team rumors.

Granted the industry and racing will probably have to improve before this is feasible but you have to think if Gwin was strictly looking to make money there is a lot better investments he can make than buying a bike park.

I took a break from the internet over the holidays so apologies if this has been discussed but just saw this:

On January 1, 2024, legendary manager Martin Whitely announced that he would be bringing his services to the Frameworks team.

The Pierron's also have their own family run bike park in central France, and there is a Commencal facility somewhere too that seems to be specifically for their teams, and there are probably others that I am forgetting as well. The point about Moto style training facilities is definitely interesting, as historically mountain biking has always been a sport where the top pros and novices can be found riding the same places, and a shift towards more exclusive training zones could take away from this somewhat, although I struggle to see that happening as there are already so many great places for off-season testing, etc. If there is anywhere in the world that it could be of real benefit to have somewhere that was run like that though the US would be that place, as there's a whole lot of talent that could be nurtured a lot more effectively with the presence of some good race series' and/or training camp

To me, IFR posting on Norco would imply Seth Sherlock has signed with them.  Canuck/Canuck

Ya can’t just keep popping in here like a regular-ass person. It freaks me out …

It’s Benoit, innit? Fabian talking English to throw us off, not something obvious like a reflection on a chrome espresso machine handle. I mean, who’d do that …

My other guess was Finn Iles, but he’s not lanky either. I’m terrible at this. Haha

Greg Minnaar fits the bill…

Where is Mark Wallace in all this? Did Norco get rid of him to fund the old dog?

Dunne, Dak, Pinkerton on Mondraker.

From listening to Dak on the Downtime podcast recently it sounds like he will still be on an intense frame for 24. He was saying how he’s always struggled in the past with having a lack of consistency in terms of bike setup and having to keep switching brands/not having enough time to get used to a bike. Then went on to say he was stoked to finally have some consistency going into 24 which suggests still on an intense frame…

Oli Davies is off contract, fits the tall and lanky build and had a good season last year which would have raised his stocks.

Tall and lanky looking, possibly with a good amount of facial hair going on the picture. Craik?

Curious to see where Craik will finally land. His second half of the season was amazing and he's probably one of the hottest commodities around

He was still posting Norco stuff recently but haven’t seen anything in a couple days.
it’s interesting though that Greg’s IG profile still lists Santa Cruz Syndicate
