quali/semi/race POVs are allowed to be filmed but riders can't share footage for two days. new rule that i'm glad bernard finally mentioned. and the POV has to be shot on a gopro apparently (they're sponsoring the WC)! that part is so strange...limiting POV camera types. not sure if that applies to practice footage/posting too. also not sure if riders would have to give POV footage to the world cup right away or if riders could hang on to it until their personal 2 day embargo is up. sucks for bernard and others who use their blogs for a legit revenue stream and brand builder. i respect he's just not filming the runs at all.

Seems like GoPro got the rights to POVs as part of their deal. They're pushing them out on their channel - https://www.youtube.com/@GoProBike/videos

Wow - no kidding. Is their YouTube bike channel just going to be race runs posted up?

I guess they got envious of racers having their own youtube channels and wanted to grab it

How are people in the USA watching this?  I was trying to keep up with the switch, but for me its not seamless.  It seems GCN+ and Eurosport are our options.  I tried Discover + with a VPN and it didn't seem to work well for whatever reason.

It would be great to be able to put it on my LG TV or Xbox One.  It seems Eurosport might have that option on Xbox, but I can't actually see the event on it.  GCN+ doesn't seed to be available other than on the computer.

Has anyone tried these and are they actually good at streaming?  Or been able to do anything outside of their computer or phone?

Redbull was so much easier...

I have an apple tv (the hardware, lil box) and had no problem finding GCN+ in the app store and grabbing it.  Seems to work fine.  Watched juniors today, watched the xc race the other week.  No complaints

Same here - I watched part of the juniors race on my phone via the GCN app then watched the rest of the race on my computer via the GCN+ site. The footage was great - no problem at all on my side. I cannot wait for tomorrow...it's going to be an early start.

Another guy who should consider retirement.  I like Ben and his team/project but he has a young family and a few very serious injuries in the last few years.

Stressing me out

Looks like something is wrong with the live stream, there are no presenters for the women's race and they are just streaming pre recorded clips... Stress

What? My GCN+ app was configured by default in "Ambient Sound", crazy!

I changed the options to English and it's totally fine.

Thanks!

Odd...glad you got it sorted out.

Enjoy! So cool to watch racing live again.

I have to say, after my initial scare, that the stream is quite good in general. Quality image, acceptable coverage of the track, and commentators that know their sport.

Overall, everything is good... But it is not better than before, and RedBull gave it to us for free. I feel bad for them, maybe I will buy a six-pack every race weekend in their honour Wink

The footage is good but let's be honest, they aren't showing us the most exciting parts of the track. I want to see the fast/steep tech sections not just the wide open sections.

Agree, but sometimes the coverage is a matter of just where the good parts are on a certain track. You obviously have to show the start and the final 30 seconds, and one or two key sections in between. Plus the 5 seconds drone shot, which in my opinion is amazing to watch.

That doesn't leave much time for other sections, specially if they are close to the top. Maybe in the top10, when the gap between the riders is bigger, we will ser more.

They have cameras on the off camber section at the top, my guess is they will show at least a bit of that

Yeah your dead right, johns footage in the woods really showed how fast they were going, scary. Probably would have taken 2 more cameras.

Amaury Pierron DNS in Semi.

Anyone knows anything about that, from what I heard yesterday he had a crash in practice and was just cruising in quali, but DNS also means he isn’t able to start finals is he?

stream was stable and quality was good, but would love to see the remaining riders list inbetween. also didn‘t catch any mention on amaury not racing!

but it was a really good experience overall for the first race IMO.

He still wasn’t feeling good this morning after yesterday’s crash, so the team decided to play the long game instead. With a DNS in semis he also can’t race the final.

Have anybody found any pirate livestream from finals? Just asking for the future Smile I don't want to pay those rich cocksuckers from Discovery for the broadcast without good camera coverage of the track, no Rob Warner, even no this kinda ,,timeline" with the distance between first rider and the one on the track, that was on the RedBull. I also don't want to support their stupid rules about GoPro and stealing riders right to publish the recording straight after. A lot of things suck and I'm surprised riders don't oppose against it.

rachel's winning run POV

Semis was a laughable production.  Not even in the same ball park as RedBull.  With them charging for finals viewership is going to be hard to keep

finals wasn’t bad. Some errors, graphics need work, and commentary was a mess.  But the racing was good and cameras were decent.  But certainly not a step above the last couple seasons of Red Bull.  And that’s with a very short track!!!

I managed to log in after about 5 hours of trying. Ended up the only device in the house that would work was my 4 year old ipad. So she was stoked that dad had stolen it off her for the night lol.

I watched the semis on youtube, was pretty good.

The finals was excellent coverage, seemed like they showed a lot more of the run and arguably better camera work. The stream was of extremely high quality as far as resolution, I'm presuming 1080 at a minimum. Timing was heaps easier to see on the Ipad.

Commentary was OK, I was warming to Cedric a bit more by the end of it. Rick is knowledgeable but just doesn't have the charisma and energy I feel.

I never pay for streaming stuff, but I feel over the course of the year this will be worth my $60 Aussie Dollarydoos.

Ha ha - at one point I was telling myself #whysoserious Tongue

But yes he was great. I shook my head when that women commentator said Goldstone was from the US.

But regardless - I'm grateful we can watch live racing. I remember the days when we couldn't watch and lets be honest, when Freecaster first got onboard we missed more footage than we got to watch. GCN did great in my book

Ok so they did better in today.  Cedric is still WAY TO French.  Was disappointed to go find the semi finals this morning PDT and see Rachael won 40th race on GCN.  Thanks aholes. So before I watched the Semi's I already knew the winner.  Still they are horible about update of how many riders left, who is left to drop ect..

Not sure I agree that you are protected all the way to finals.  Guaranteed a spot in Semi's sure but both Semi's and Finals?

Rachel Atherton coming back first race after three seasons off, major injurys, a baby and starting a bike company with her family. Legend.
