Interesting brake mount...
Grabbed from the recent Gastovlogcubesr&dprojects
Looks like a floating brake arm, you can see it under the left stay. Hasn’t Danny experimented with that before on saracen?
Just a floating brake mount. You can see the connecting rod below the chainstay. It's nice to see a quick and dirty prototype in the wild instead of one that someone wasted time making look good just for proof of concept testing.
Saracen as a whole did that, they tuned the anti rise with it. I commented that on Pinkbike and Saracen's designer confirmed my comment.
FWIW, Saracen's was a single pivot (they have a multilink proto out now?) while the cube is a multi link bike, which makes a floating brake less necessary or less useful than on a single pivot. It's likely there for testing purposes.
It was also hinted in the PB article from a few weeks ago. https://www.pinkbike.com/news/inside-pivots-secret-carbon-fiber-r-and-d…
oh yes i forgot about that video - Personally im a huge fan of lugged frames, from the way they look to their "apparent" strength.
New SID clearly labeled at SID SL.
So the 'normal SID' must be the downcountry version and this is the 'world cup race' version.
Fingers crossed 🤞 Cannondale has something on the way
Habit
I would be curious if someone can test what this does. I tried to put it in Linkage but I didn't find how to have the caliper mounted opposite to where the arm connects onto the plate. I would expect it to behave similarly to a floating brake with the frame attachment below the main pivot, aka increasing Anti-Rise. Considering how 4bar suspensions have inherently low anti-rise numbers this would seem logical.
It does what it was designed to do. And it hugely depends in which link is longer overall. With the same layout you can make the floating brake link antisquat or pro squat by juet changing the link length (they used to all have adjustable length through threaded rosejoints and Saracen also had an adjustment built in).
New EXT Aria press release on the home page, msrp price: 1060,00 € / 1150,00 $
, (still less than an Eleven Six...)
Here is a Pivot lugged frame in the secret area of their warehouse
Pivot 3-D printing a new front triangle for test fitment
I thought the one spotted in NZ a while back was the weagle jack shaft idler high pivot thing? I don't see any obvious mounts for the jake shaft for an idler? Maybe this is something different? Otherwise sure looks similar. And looks identical to the pb photos. Interesting.
The seat tube is very very straight for a DH bike...
new habit stuff here - https://www.vitalmtb.com/news/press-release/starting-2300-2023-cannonda…
carbon, alloy, regular or LT, starting at $2,300
I'm no expert but I would definitely have both a standard drivetrain version and a newfangled magic drivetrain version, so my riders can try both and pick which they prefer.
That's not the new Phoenix. That wall hanger has DW6 linkage. Odds are that Pivot's been working on lugged prototypes for a while and the new Phoenix isn't the first bike going down this road.
I'm definitely curious to know how many and for how long companies have been building lugged prototypes in recent years. The lug/tube concept isn't new, just cool new ways to make the lugs.
The wall hanger looks to just be a DW not a dw6. And yeah, I guess it shouldn't be surprising that different prototypes have a family resemblance, they probably try to use the same molds for the tubes and only alter the lugs. It is dam good looking!
Any news for the alu Devinci prototype, the so called Chainsaw? Is it just an alu Spartan HP, or is it something different (like with a lil bit more travel)?
Wasn't the original prototype for the Spartan named 'Chainsaw'? I seem to recall Devinci using the name on the bike Smith rode in Pietermaritzburg but then they decided to change the name for release, they had a reason but I don't remember why. Maybe 'Chainsaw' is just a prototype name?
This thread started with a new SC eBike. Any update on their lineup? The Bullit and Heckler are around 3 Years old… and lighter Motorsystems have been introduced in the meantime?
Santa Cruz new colors and build kits out? Not sure how old that information is, looks like they’ve replaced some of the build kits with RS forks
New Vittoria Air-Liners may be on the way
Bruni not on Fox helmets anymore??
Hasn't this been known for quite a while?
Those launched with the new SRAM drivetrain. You'll see a lot more all-SRAM builds (including forks) in Santa Cruz's lineup.
our digit datum vid went up
Back on page 370 in this thread some screenshots from a webstore were posted for a new bike called Chainsaw. Little less than 16.5kg, with a 170mm fork, together with the other details it seems like an alu version of the Spartan. And yet the proto photos suggest a more gravity oriented bike with the Boxxer mounted up front…
