Definitely a carbon Súmmum. Looks like some very harsh angles that wouldn’t really be possible with alloy.

I can't seem to upload any pics off my phone or the desktop but if you see Wyns story he is on a prototype bike with fox 40's on also.

I also see some low profile enve wheels? Maybe a single wall design like zipp or crank bros?

Saw two of these in person last week on a testing session in my home spot. Definitely the new 29er carbon summum.

It’s funny because I remember in the press release they were proud of the fact that their top spec bike was in alloy. They talked about how* insert marketing BS here* it was etc. and now they go and make a carbon version of the exact bike they were so proud of because it’s alloy Smile ah, how I love the marketing departments

yet alu bikes are priced for carbon level, i think that's a sign of dh bikes slowly dying

If you look at Wyn's instagram and the GTFR instagram it looks like he raced a DH race on this proto frame but with a dual crown on it. Between this and the norco team doing the same thing with the range prototype it might be a sign that many companies are totally phasing out DH bikes

Rocky already did it with the new Slayer and killed off the Maiden. And I can tell you my new Slayer is an absolute beast. It's slacker than any DH bike I've owned, although it's been a few years since I've had one.

There's also one in bike checks that was modded for 190mm out back and has DH fork on it. Having a big mountain bike that can take on full DH/park duty's and climb reasonably will be the final nail for half the DH rigs out there.

he also appears to have added a bottle cage specifically for his race run — not present from what I can tell in practice Laughing

Looks to be a diffrent front end form the one on the website, it seems to be longer and possibly lighter (look at the seat tube-top tube join). Although it could just be custom made for matt rather than a prototype

I'm a bit surprised by this since he was fully committed to a full 29r setup while Danny H went with a mullet.

He was quite successful with that 29" bike, too.

New 2022 Scott Spark's are out in May. Dealers don't know have any advanced info, and they will be finding out on release day. Going to be new RC version in time for Nino etc to ride at the Olympics.

They have definitely addressed the standover/seat-tube length. I threw a leg over a the latest Force when they first came out and even with long legs the standover was noticeable. I'm liking what I am seeing now though.

I'm not sure if anyone has pointed it out already, but the proto commencal has a pivot at the dropouts. This means it doesn't have a single piece back end like the current one. The chainstays probably pull on the shock link. It looks light too.

I‘m rocking my maiden since this year and I absolutely love it, wouldn’t swap it for a slayer

Fair enough, not knocking the Maiden, it was a rig. But Rocky obviously didn't see the business sense for it and the new slayer it much more of a sled than the last one. It's a perfect fit right in between the old slayer and the Maiden.

Can’t really tell but it looks like it’s either got a flex pivot or some kind of dual link. Bottom bracket area looks thiccc too

Just tried the Supreme in Linkage with the chainstay pulling a rocker somewhere near the BB, seems you can rather easily get a slightly S curve with lot of progression.
But the anti-rise at such a position seem to be around 190-140%, so maybe the cover could be there to hide a much more forward pivot point, which brings the AR rise down to 130-100%.
This way the high idler position seems much more relevant.
