Hopefully they lay this one out. I like the 153 but it’s aging quick. I don’t think the 165 ever did very well though. Not sure where this one will land.

Agreed, the STA is too slack by today’s standards. I had cross shopped a 153 29 but went with a Sentinel due to the geo on the Sentinel being that much more speed inducing.

I’m in the whistler lift line. Just saw the prototype aurum. Got a shitty picture, but will try to get more. Posting when I get home.

I don't think the Norco spy shots are the new Range. I've seen Norco staff riders testing aluminum Range mules on the Shore and it's a 4-bar/Horst with a high pivot/idler.

It was full carbon. Same design as on pb yesterday

I would bet the house and the farm that they're more Gwin prototypes, or tweaks to current Gwin protos. That lower junction forging on Isabeau's and Gwin's bike do look almost identical. However, the AG written right on the work bench give it away for me.

Yep, you’re right. Past couple days he’s been posting videos showing he’s building the 279 and tagging gwin. Deff looks to be that same lower junction. Would be great to see Intense make that enduro prototype.

And I'm sure they'd sell more than the gwin-dotype. The carbine and tracer are 3/4 years old respectively this season and the M29 is only a year and a half really. Need that fresh Enduro meat.

FYI, someone on Pinkbike said that the aluminium high pivot idler horst link from a few posts back is not a Range proto, that it's something else.

But yeah, the carbon thingie for sure must be a DH rig? I mean it has a dual crown fork and looks very chunky, surely it can't be a pedal bike?

If it's still using the Sine suspension, then yeah, quite similar. Only that they use a short link instead of a rail. The rail of the Yeti acts like an infinitely long link.

if it rides anything like the sb150 then it would be a pretty damn good bike.

I think the most interesting thing is where you saw them being tested . . . .

I believe designed by the same guy who originally gave Yeti the Switch platform

Main difference between the three is the lower "link" solution

I'd say Yeti switched (!) to Infinity to prevent paying royalties, or probably also to move away from the bearing failures the original, lower recirculating link was known for

I'd say it's the failures and, most importantly, differentiation. Nobody else uses rails and they have used them in the past so it's kinda their dna.

Given the Sb100 it's not the best solution either (it did have problems), it doesn't really work for aluminium frames (either that or they just don't want to cover the lower end of the market), but yeah, it is different.

Regarding royalties, can't see it being expensive as Sotto wasn't mentioned anywhere, I'd say it was contract work. Just like switch infinity, can't see that being an internal job if the switch pivot wasn't.

Yocthe alchemy platform is designed by Sotto too?

Sorry for the crappy camera.
Really good looking bike. High pivot, idler, massive front triangle with bottle cage bolts for whatever reason. Had an aluminum extension at the rear axle, probably to test different lengths. Full carbon everywhere else. Shock layout looked very similar to a devinci Wilson, or a 2020 Specialized Enduro, but a bit more inside the frame and forward. Reminds me of that prototype cannondale from last year, minus dual shock.

Nice, I still have wet dreams over my 2014 Wilson. Wish I never sold it. Got my rotor bolts fully torqued!

Did you happen to see what that other Norco was behind it? looked really similar but with a paint job.

Why is it that in 2020 all the shots of prototype bikes being used in public areas the pictures look like they were all shots on a Nokia from 2003 ?

4 year old phone, screwed up camera, and trying to take photos without being able to focus it or look at the camera so I don’t look like a creep in the lift line.

I get the feeling but in the other hand... Just own it. They are the ones who are out in public, they should expect to have pictures taken. Look at all the spy shots of proto cars that are making the rounds.
