You used to not be allowed to enter downhill races until you were about 15 or 16.....even if you could there wasn't really bikes made to fit kids anyway. Pretty sure Steve Peat picked up the sport relatively late and it worked out OK for him. Apart from the cost of buying a bike, its relatively accessible nowadays so if you're able to just get out and ride a ton then theres no reason not to!

Yo Yoda! The onsite commentator that travels with the World Cup circuit is Randy Ferguson. He is French/Canadian from Quebec. The dude is always on point and I agree he is just as good as any on screen commentating. I am stoked to get on the mic with him at the Snowshoe World Cup DH again this September! Love the insight from the venue. It makes sense that the new format is an action packed race day for spectators. My voice will be reeling commentating all of the semi/final runs in one day, but nothing some post-race whiskey can't smooth...

The coverage has been worth it IMO. In my circle of riding buddies, which is pretty big. I am probably the only one that follows UCI DH like some sort of religion, I'll stay up till whatever ungodly hour to watch it. Your die hards will watch it no matter what and pay a pretty penny for it. I really wish some of the $$$ went to the riders though. It really is a sport where a select few make enough money to make a decent living, literally risking their lives (Last weeks race anyone?) for peoples entertainment basically.

Some great racing, Bernard looked to be in for the Win due to the rain but Mother Nature had other ideas. I'm glad the race wasn't decided by rain. Incredible round, just when you think someone pulls out a winning run (Troy) it gets pipped again and again. Coverage was pretty good, no complaints with the time zone here in Aus, I start watching the racing at 6.30pm, crush a bunch of beers and yell at the TV until about midnight then sleep like a brick.

Carlson did a little commentary on a race run between the races and it was phenomenal. Right on par with Elliot Jackson. Get him in the booth.

For those who are worried about the track being too smooth, I *promise* the holes are coming back. It's one of the steepest tracks on the circuit, there are unlimited nasty rocks and roots hiding under the fresh dirt, and the dirt on that hill is loose, dry, and unstable. Once they dump 250 racers on the track for three days of practice, quali's, semi's, and finals, the holes will come. Sounds like buddy maybe just rode a properly bled and bedded in pair of codes for the first time (with the stealth levers). Amazing how proper brake maintenance and well setup rotors/pads with straight alignment can make a world of difference.
