Agreed. Pretty talented cyclist. What I heard was "Do this impossible line, then set up wide for that impossible line, then square off this turn so you can get into this other unrideable off-camber root section..."

Nice shock, but comparing it to an air-shock wont tell me much I could not have guessed...

I would like to know how it compares to other coil shocks, like Rock Shox ultimate coil the Fox one that is commonly used on a Megatower?

Thank you, Ed. That was probably the best MTB video and editing I’ve seen in years. It felt like I was there.

Great article Paul! Im totally with you on this one, I think this 'underbiking' crap that has grown so much in popularity is mostly just bravado and general dumb assery. Same goes for gravel biking, 'look how much fun Im having! I have to walk my bike past every technical...more

A question for the reviewer:

Why choose this over the Slayer? I have never quite understood what differs a "race" enduro-bike from a "freeride" enduro-bike? I read that the Slayer is playful descending as well?
But there must be a reason they made the Altitude with similare travel to the Slayer, maybe you as a tester can enlighten me/us?

How about 29er vs 275 test? Maybe take the top 3 29ers from this test and race them against the top three from a 275 test. Also do the same with DH bikes. Then do DH bikes against trail bikes on a DH trail because everyone says these new trail bikes descend like a DH bike and I don’t believe...more

Great comparison. Really does bear out how the rider (fitness and skill) is the most important factor.

How about the same with 27.5 - 160 - 170mm travel bikes?

Agreed but disregard wheel size. Bikes fit in the same category regardless of wheel size. I'm not exclusive to wheel size when I shop for a bike. In my opinion the wheel size isn't that big of a factor when classifying the bike.

Awesome test, seems like overall the performance of all the bikes is very similar.

Other timed tests I would love to see:
Capra 27.5 vs Capra 29 (same build)
Entry level vs top spec bike (same tyres please)
Commencal Meta 4.2 vs Commencal Meta Power with power off on descents

So many new options in the 165mm and up range. It'd be a good one!

Please Review some 27.5 bikes next.. maybe bikes around the new 160-170 category for enduro~ I'm Thinking Slightly more travel then just a standard 160Front 160Rear.. Maybe The Nomad, Reign SX, Transition Patrol, Norco Range, Specialized Enduro, Devinci Spartan, Commencial,, Cannondale Jekyll...more

I'll be great to have a small rider riding a 27,5 and 29er (Hightower LT - Bronson / Enduro 27,5 - 29 / ...) . How the difference are regarding feeling, cornering and of course timing.

Great review! It really shows that the stop-watch and the "this feels fast" are different things.

Please do the same test on the same course with the Nomad4, the 2018 Capra both 27,5 and 29 and Canyon Torque. And include one of the bikes from this test as a reference (to see if the mesured times are comparable).

That test would answer a lot of questions that keep me up at night!

Both because of the 27,5/29 thing and also because both riders and testers seem to agree that those are longer travel "freeride-bikes" and not enduro-race-bikes. I suspect they are really fast though.

PS. Technical climbing aside, I mostly wonder which one of the bikes lets me get to the top without killing my legs, I need that power for the race-stages.

Hands down the best bike test I've seen.
