Ride a descent and dont pedal at all downhill. See what the best times are. Ride a smooth flow trail and a rough DH trail too to compare. Cool for varying dirt conditions too.

i had 2.5 DHF/2.4 DHR II exo+ in the truck and planned until weather started rolling in, so i went w/ the 2.3 DHRII / aggressor thinking it would be a lot faster. clearly it wasn't. trying to plan to do a bunch of other more direct comparisons soon. after this, though, teamrobot seems to have hit it on the head - tread patterns may not matter much if same size, casing and compounds are compared. semi-slicks for V2.0 for sure, too.

The second generation of the Santa Cruz Megatower comes three years after the launch in 2019 and builds on the success of its predecessor. With some exciting new features and refined geometry, fans of the old bike may have a new favorite and those looking for an enduro bike can put this one at the top of their list. For a bike that is targeted at big rides and demanding terrain, Santa Cruz has upped the level for what to expect out of an enduro bike in terms of capability and all-day comfort. Highlights Carbon fiber (C and CC options)...

Brian Cottrell-Thompson Liked a comment about product review 11.6 on my Santa Cruz Megatower

I have had a an 11.6 on three bikes. The GG Smash and Shred Dogg (aluminum, pre-2019 variety) and now on a Pistola (2021). I had a Super Deluxe Coil on the aluminum bikes as back up. Both are damn good shocks. For me, one gains a whole lot more in adjustment with Push as well as customer service. I have called Push and spoke with one of their tuners to get my shock to feel exactly as I wanted. Good luck getting someone from Rockshox on the phone. I think the bottom line is Push is going to be...

Wow! Cool build! Can you elaborate on what these changes has done to the bikes handling? I guess it is way more enduro-capable now? Does it still climb well?

Great comparison. Though what I'd really like to know is when is the Giga 290 coming out, haha!

Agreed. Pretty talented cyclist. What I heard was "Do this impossible line, then set up wide for that impossible line, then square off this turn so you can get into this other unrideable off-camber root section..."

Nice shock, but comparing it to an air-shock wont tell me much I could not have guessed... I would like to know how it compares to other coil shocks, like Rock Shox ultimate coil the Fox one that is commonly used on a Megatower?

Thank you, Ed. That was probably the best MTB video and editing I’ve seen in years. It felt like I was there.

Great article Paul! Im totally with you on this one, I think this 'underbiking' crap that has grown so much in popularity is mostly just bravado and general dumb assery. Same goes for gravel biking, 'look how much fun Im having! I have to walk my bike past every technical feature and I crash constantly!'

For me, maybe is not a normal component, but I feel very very usefeul the Sram's Shockwiz. I've used in many bikes and always I had a better feeling than before. I know the price is hig but I can improve all my bikes with it. Honestly, I enjoy a lot tunning my suspensions with this little item... (excuse me for my poor english...)

Skull valve caps. Can't afford? Dice or bullet ones are also good.

A question for the reviewer: Why choose this over the Slayer? I have never quite understood what differs a "race" enduro-bike from a "freeride" enduro-bike? I read that the Slayer is playful descending as well? But there must be a reason they made the Altitude with similare travel to the Slayer, maybe you as a tester can enlighten me/us?

How about 29er vs 275 test? Maybe take the top 3 29ers from this test and race them against the top three from a 275 test. Also do the same with DH bikes. Then do DH bikes against trail bikes on a DH trail because everyone says these new trail bikes descend like a DH bike and I don’t believe them
