Varaxis Added a comment about feature Transition Patrol vs. Patrol - See How the 2018 Compares

Transition should be mailing you guys checks for doing such good marketing work for them. This is how you sell bikes. I love comparisons to see exactly why someone should choose one over another, especially when you have a myriad of choices. Doesn't help that people repeatedly say that you can't go wrong with any, when you're sure there's a choice that can better suit someone for no more cost than another. I had to look for the ads to see how you are keeping this kind of quality free. There's only 3 ads on the page: top banner (TLD...

Varaxis Added a comment about feature Vital MTB Face Off: The Best Dropper Seatposts

These "shoot-offs" are exactly what I love to see. Making it easy to spend my money... I already got the Cush Core for 29, and now sold on 'em. Zero arm pump riding blown out bike park trails for 2 days, at under 15 psi (150 lb rider, 2.3 tire), and no problems. Now have the BikeYoke Revive on my wishlist. Glad that Jenson carries it. Might be replacing my RF Turbine, which has an air pressure leaking issue.

I've been trying to figure out the name of this sport... I recall it being named something-flingen. European people of all sorts of levels ride down ski jumps in a niche style of competition, and they're not dying. Was clued onto it when I was checking out a list of weird competitions, like Dodsing.
Looks like the lower eyelet is high above the downtube and very close to the seat tube, generally in the same spot as Full Floater. Could be either fixed or floating, but can't tell from the pic because it's hidden from sight. My impression is that they're mainly refining the stiffness to weight ratio. They've gone with huge stiffness in...
Looks like subtle changes to tube shaping and positioning. Looks like they moved the entire seat tube back, altered the downtube to swoop less, increase tube diameters towards the front of the tubes and bottom of the seat tube, and longer seatstays. That or I'm just imagining things... no diff in wheel size.

A2C can vary due to their use of coil springs for the negative spring. Pump in air for a very light rider and you get a shorter A2C; pump in air for a very heavy rider and you get a longer A2C. It's more honest and accurate to say +/- 5mm, to ensure there's no dramatic social media/forum firestorm about lying about A2C, when it's actually measured/compared by consumers.

Well, AU throws a wrench in anything I know. I'd be checking out the Giant Reign. Can probably talk them down to $3000 for the base model. How much do the Canyon Strive and Whyte G160 run?
^ SC and Yeti maybe realizes that no one's trying to pedal *while* taking a huge hit that uses up 60+% of their travel. Isn't recommended sag *also* dependent on shock rate curves? - Santa Cruz's leverage is highest at their recommended sag, for max sensitivity. - Yeti's leverage is flat throughout its travel, so their sag range is much...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but did CB just patent something that makes their dual link mimic a single pivot in terms of pedaling efficiency? That relation between chainline and center of curvature looks exactly like having a single pivot located at the top of the chainring, with the difference being that CB's IC is forward and lower, creating *slightly*...

Yeti SB95 and Evil Following for 2 different reasons. The Yeti SB95 was the purchase that broke my 1-bike quiver days. It made me wonder which bike suit me best, and I started becoming a bike whore from then on. It was a very good bike. Just too good, and made my trails dull. I switched to a HT to...

Varaxis Added a reply to The Internet Was Wrong: Short Chainstays Suck*

What's with the controversial title, now that you've corrected the misunderstandings, misled by your original post? "Short chainstays suck" = Short chainstays aren't always better. Longer is better for taller riders, racers, and bikes with longer fronts? You speak of balance, but balance can be found with short CS too. Compared to a Ripley, 17.4" CS, a Intense Spider 275c...

I think it boils down to people riding what they're used to. If it's different, there will be "growing pains" in getting used to it. Trying to use the bike in a way similar to their last, and seeing it struggle (wheelies, manuals, etc.), is seen as a glaring downside, despite it possibly being faster and more capable overall. Maybe...

Gimbal makes the PoV style much more watchable. I'm tempted to try one out myself, but it seems like one would need to learn how to fix them, to save them after all the damage they take. :D
