La Pata Liked a product review Review - 2022 YT Decoy MX E-Bike
11/6/2021 12:31pm
At first glance the YT Decoy MX Core 4 looks like a dream machine. A downhill bike that can be pedaled uphill? Could it be that our dreams have finally come true? As we dug further into YT's mixed-wheel e-bike, we found there was more nuance to be explored. We've spent months exploring the west with this consumer-direct eMTB and are ready to share the full rundown on how the YT held up. Highlights Carbon frame 29-inch front wheel // 27.5-inch rear 165mm (6.50-inches) rear-wheel travel // 170mm (6.69-inches) fork travel Virtual Four Link suspension design Internal cable routing Powerswitch...

9/24/2021 2:32pm Question about DT hubs: I've had some 350 freehubs fall off from the weight of the cassette, basically yard-saling the guts out onto the ground. All my experiences with 240s hubs never did this. I presumed that this was one of the cons of the 350s. Is this still the case?

9/14/2021 10:40am Was hoping EBBs would come back refined enough to be a viable way to adjust geo (BB drop and CS length). Happy to see this!

6/12/2021 6:58pm Yea, that's an interesting illusion. There's that 3rd facet at the rotor edge that makes one side brighter too. Can seem like it's a thicker 2 piece, but it's could also be one piece, with colored arms and a rounded edge.

Spire Don't think it's replacing anything. Looks like they wanted to build around the Fox 38, and picked 29" wheels F&R (judging by how much BB drop there is). The Sentinel is 150mm travel rear, so something designed ground up to be bigger hitting isn't unexpected.

4/23/2021 6:50pm Long wheelbase bikes need a taller BB for another reason - to gain ground clearance due to bigger stuff being able to fit between the F and R wheels. For example, if you go slow off of a rock roller or a rooty ledge, the edge of the rock/root can contact the crank/chainring before the rear wheel can come into...

2/11/2021 5:55pm Why not an angleset to steepen the HA for more weight on the front? Combine with short offset fork and fewer spacers under the stem. I'd go as far as suggesting an eccentric BB to increase CS length too, if you have an compatible BB shell (PF30).

1/8/2021 12:04am 99% of the other bikes out there have CS too long in small, including Nukeproof here. Privateer has it figured out. Marin seems good for shorties too. I don't feel bad for tall guys, cause you got like dozens of options, and Marin could be a choice for those who actually want short CS for getting steezy.

🔥Vital MTB’s One-Minute Bike Review 🔥 YT Industries Jeffsy 29 Base Mountain Bike 29-inch wheels Price: $2,299 4.5 out of 5-star rating - would definitely recommend Tires? Awesome Wheels? Not bad Brakes? Great stopping power. Lever adjustment is a pain. Bars? A bit stiff Stem? We swapped the 50mm for a 35mm (3 of the riders in our test at were in between medium and large (tested)). Dropper post? Fantastic Customer service? Depends on who you ask. Upgrade-ability? Sky’s the limit. 29er haters, go for the 27.5 model. Over the past 4 months, Vital MTB had 4 different riders spend...

8/14/2020 8:51am I'm super interested in climbing too. I got a bike that pedals so softly, custom steel FS, that it makes me notice how harshly my knees feel strain while climbing other super stiff bikes. Wondering if something like this takes off the edge in a similar way.
