7/5/2024 3:07pm Just grabbed a Mara Pro and a Mezzer in the recent sale... completely woke up and revitalized my Knolly. I was looking for the deal, knowing full well updated models where coming, no regrets. Only hang up with the Mara is I feel like I am dialing the rebound almost all the way up and maybe running out of damping there. Mezzer is as good as everyone says, Dorado air spring is amazing.

7/5/2024 3:07pm The old Mara Pro had superior damping to most off the shelf shocks and are serviceable at home. The new air can fixes it's only real drawback of the fixed negative spring.

6/19/2024 12:48pm Got on a deal for a Mezzer Exp and added the IRT. Pal recently upgraded from his factory 38 to a Mezz Pro as a result of a couple test rides on my bike. Hayes/Manitou have been on a tear the last 5 years.

6/19/2024 12:48pm New warden is a mullet and 170mm travel, with a max of 180mm in the rear. Also there's a new delirium coming too. Manitou forks are so far ahead of the competition. Can't recommend them enough.

5/22/2024 12:26pm Sounds functionally similar to what manitou is doing with TPC plus in the dorado. A second piston that adds dampening once it "bottoms out".

4/10/2024 9:48pm Insightful interview... Interesting to see Fox lean into improved damping control vs. air spring improvements. Seems like they're taking a page from EXT/Ohlins in managing suspension control through proper damping. Was thinking about swapping my Fox 36 for a RXF 36, but I may just try giving the new damper a try first.

1/24/2024 7:08pm Yes, there's such thing as too powerful. But it's relative to your tyre (and your tiredness) essentially. Put some Shimano Saint, Trickstuff Power pas, with 220mm rotors and Maxxis Rekon Race tires, you'll see if there's no such thing as too powerful

unusualbread Added a reply to Brake Rotor thickness vs size talk
1/17/2024 10:53am I view it as disc size controlling for brake power/modulation AND thermal capacity, while disc thickness controls for thermal capacity only. It also seems to be pretty well settled that you need more thermal capacity on the rear per articles like this and in my own experience. With that in mind, I've settled on a 180mm 2.3mm rotor front with...

1/13/2024 10:16am Just so they know and to encourage them if they're reading this, when they come out with the Kryptotal front in Enduro casing Supersoft, I'm buying a pallet. Maybe two if they also do the Trail casing in Supersoft.

unusualbread Added a reply to what kind of brake pads to use front vs back
10/31/2023 10:28am It's been proven that the rear needs more heat capacity than the front so like you said, it does not make any sense to have the more capable setup up front like we see on a lot of bikes. Brake ace video showing data. I would argue that rotor mass (size and thickness) makes a bigger difference than pad compound...

2/24/2016 3:13pm I don't get why they are putting the goma in the front and morsa rear. I have run both on the front and morsa seems to have a good amount more grip in most conditions. Way more predictable when they let go too.
