I am a Tippie fan, but can someone explain to me why he should get a ride over some up and comer? A very few amount of riders from his generation are still sponsored full time, even a much younger Gully works full time for Orbea not as a rider. Love the guy, but in times apparently so tight in the industry, why him and not someone current like the people who we talk about in this thread losing rides?

So much hatred towards BK. I don't understand it. He does a lot for the sport, and his private relationships – which are discussed a lot here, and where everyone is entitled to their opinion, just like with sausage, politics and art – shouldn't really matter. He does more for the sport than all the keyboard warriors here in the forum.

I wouldn’t call it free labor. They got free education including housing, food ect.. (ask any student drowning in debt that was worth). They get first pick of classes. They got so many other feee things. Can you argue they were underpaid ok but free labor is BS

So something else to consider? If YT is out then all teams would move up at least one ranking spot. As of today, this would put teams like Rogue racing and Santa Cruz Goodman in the top 15. I don't know what the fee is that WBD charges elite teams to register but I imagine it's not cheap these days. If the teams can't pay it, what does that mean for them?

Time to eat my words cause I jumped the gun. I just found out there should be some cool news locally, hopefully in the next few days but might be another week or two. The embargo is real.

A couple of points of info: -No one has really mentioned that Whistler's post says they're part of the UCI series "Starting in" 2026. So, sounds like they've signed a multi-year deal. -1199 course was definitely built in mind of the 2010 fiber optics lines. It's all set up for TV and a big reason for the course location. -The issue with Creekside base is that it's super tight. The base area will be an expo, and smaller teams will be pitting from the upper deck of the parking garage. The big teams ($) will get access to pit space...

Do they not get federation jerseys in Korea? Or is that only for countries with established racers? For that matter, what's stopping some random rider from Mozambique or Uzbekistan getting a national federation jersey to ride in a world cup?

Finally we all got what we wanted... the chance to complain about how a proper ‘world series’ prices out smaller teams and privateers.

Oh, I 100% agree with you. Like I said in my "ramble," I don't necessarily agree with this line of thinking but I could see UCI looking at it that way. The point of my ramble, I guess, was to say that there are multiple ways of mentally framing this situation and the UCI seems to be fine playing things a little loosey goosey with their interpretations of their own rules. ...but now to dig in to that thought further: Did UCI officially retire him? Seems not...or at least it seems like they don't yet (that I've seen anyway) have...

I'm guessing he's still in the California. He attended San Diego Supercross, and I assume the 100% event for their new building. Guessing it's not his personal bike. 🤷‍♂️

Now that I have your attention, do we think the other teams would even bother with the belt drive if they knew Rach was possibly returning aboard that Atherton belt drive prototype this season? I know the elite women's field has changed a lot since she was last in the mix. That said, I honestly think Rachel could win pushing a '99 Uzzi this season if that was her ride.
