maybe consider some magura's? Vital just gave them the WIN in their most recent brake comparison and the MT7's just so happen to be on sale at JensonUSA right now lol I bought some for myself recently just to try them compared the TRP Dh-Evo's that I've been running lately.

Danny Hart's GT Fury caught a lot of attention this past World Cup season as it had some notable structural frame modifications to increase compliance. Dale, Danny's mechanic, is a veteran frame engineer and had some great ideas on how to fine tune Danny's bike to work best for his style and to eke out the literal hundreths of a second needed to win races. If you haven't seen these mods, check out this quick section of Vital's PIT BITS video here. Let's dig into each modification. This will be extra fun because I was fortunate enough to be the...

The median income in the last ranked state (Mississippi) is higher than the median income for the entirety of the UK. Your problem is lack of social programs, not lack of income. American's are obscenely rich, yet have ~15% poverty rate (from OECD data). If you get an international perspective you'd realise how well off the majority of Americans are

I think it's an indication of the size of the country you inhabit. My sister lives in the US and thinks nothing of driving 7-8 hours and I have a Dutch friend who thinks driving somewhere over an hour away is a major mission.

Some thoughts on the radial casings: -Weight: 147lbs -Front: 29, Radial Magic Mary, Ultra Soft, Trail -Rear: 27.5, Radial Albert, Soft, Gravity Have ridden the tires on about 10 rides... 1. Started at 26PSI and quickly brought it down to 21-22.5psi, front and rear (note that I have different casings front/rear) 2. I've pretty much only ridden in wet, 40-58deg F conditions. 3. Not overly impressed with Soft compound in terms of grip on wet roots (climbing, etc.) Felt like worn T9 compound I had on previously was better. Schwalbe doesn't offer 27.5 Radial tires in Ultra Soft yet. 4...

Serious thanks to Vital MTB and SRAM for their outrageous prize package. Totally blew my mind. Really enjoyed the Fantasy competition and do hope that this continues for 2025. Thanks again.

So it all boils down to gearing and type of muscles you have, typically you will have better power output at higher cadence, but if you run out of gears you do not have higher cadence. So it's basically sh*t on really steep climbs cause it's where a typical 30x51 29er will cause you pedal slowly, if you are not Nino. Also there is a dropper problem here, I already have 210 dropper and would take 240 dropper, but having a 155mm crank would have to use 240 one. Also running O-Chain limits me to 30T upfront. So it is...

I've been an advocate for steep jumps instead of long and lows for a while due to beginner behavior and injury chances. Build a flow trail with decent size jumps towards the end at moderate speed and they will feel confident enough to do them, as the lips are shallow and you just ride off them at trail speed, but the speeds are high enough a crash causes serious injuries. Build a jump trail with steep lips, speed is "lost" due to traveling up more (I know its not exactly like this) and crash speeds will be lower, but most...

The drawback of more capable modern bikes is that when something goes wrong it happens at higher speed. As speed goes up, the severity of injuries goes up too. For what it's worth, my worst injuries in the last couple of years have been at slow speeds, but narrowly avoided kissing a tree at high speed too.

Hey, I’m Ryan Burney. I’ve spent eight years as an engineer for full-suspension bikes, working on some fun projects, like developing the flex Horst link for the Cannondale Scalpel and being lead engineer for the latest GT Fury downhill bike. With over a decade of downhill racing under my belt (even made it to one World Cup—though I didn’t qualify so I stuck to engineering), I've had the pleasure of racing alongside the Vital crew, like Jason, Tanner, and Dak. Below is a photo of me, being slower than Dak. These days, I’m focused on my own projects, but I...

Interesting take, No more niche than a Dreadnaught, or Slash, or Spire, or Claymore, or......Just a long travel "enduro/freeride" bike, that leans more towards DH performance than most. When compared to what youd actually ride/race, its not really that much heavier, and for the additional performance, worth the penalty. I went with a Spire, but the Range was a very, very close second. Now I'm on a V2 Dreadnaught..... See loads of em around here, ridden, raced, at the bike park. Might be location dependant.

I used to look for the latest and greatest and pull the trigger without thought. But now that my bikes are built exactly how I want them, I don't find myself looking to buy anything new any more. The only time I spend money on my bikes is to maintain them and to replace worn out parts (tires, brake pads, cassette, chain, etc). This I feel is 2-fold; The industry has leveled off at a really good place quality wise, so even the newest, best of the best is just marginally better than what was good 3 years ago. And...
