This is more of a direct comment for Race Cascadia. Could you look into partnering with the WSCL and creating an enduro style race during the XC race weekend, maybe on Saturday after the practice lap time slot? It wouldn’t have to be at every race but a good number of the race venues are right next to some killer enduro trails. Some that come to mind are Cle Elum, Leavenworth, Winthrop/Loup Loup, etc. I think this would really boost the stoke for the kids and draw more interest into Enduro. I think it’s time for this conversation, even though I don’t like it. Expert courses need to be shortened at grass root level. We need to bump riders up same as in BMX and DH based on wins or top finishes. There are too many “sport” riders choosing the category based on “expert is too much climbing for me.” Create an expert/pro class for those experts that want big climb days (thank you for making a vet-pro class btw,) we needed that even if the turn out is small.) Better regulation of brackets. It’s very frustrating missing the podium and the top 3 have times that would put them in the upper 50% of the next level. This is especially important at beginner and sport level. IMO if you have raced pro in the past 5 years and have a time in the top 75% you shouldn’t be able to compete in sport. Likely the same across all brackets.

The footage and commentary is usually pretty good, but holy cow the yelling! Track side footage from either of them was often only palatable at very low volumes. Something about that Aussie and Kiwi squawk, can even hear it on Vital Raw segments. 😀

Been on the MM in radial for a season now and agree- I miss the firm, locked in feel and faster rolling of the DHF side knobs without transition knobs, but am willing to settle for the MM as a front tire because I get along really well with the radial casings. And I know you are not a fan of the radials, JS! I get it, they definitely do feel different and maybe worse depending on the rider. NAEC in Idaho looks sweet. First hand reports from this years event were positive and the tracks were proper enduro tracks. I think it was originally scheduled for late July when it would be more likely to be a blown out dust bowl. Early June, however, has a better chance of being less dusty.

I decided to jump back in the lions den and test Schwalbe's Tacky Chan again - https://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/tires/schwalbe/tacky-chan-65346#… I've read mixed opinions on the tire in this thread, and I experienced mixed performance from the tire the past few months on a decent mix of terrain. It's a sweet tire sometimes, and sucks other times. Biggest takeaway was how much braking bite and control it offers despite its heavy ramping. It's become another go-to rear tire for me next to a DHR II or a Kyrptotal RE, or Vee Attack FSX.

When Schwalbe released the Tacky Chan in June 2023, I wasn't super impressed. I racked up just enough rides to write it off for anything but firm, consistent conditions, and that was that.
