Pretty much the most costly mountain bike you can build. Pretty sweet. Reminds me of video game cheat codes.

I was also wondering about that seat tube length, thanks Vital for putting the important info up ;-) 400mm on a medium is nice and short (I'm a short arse who usually sizes up so I welcome shorter seat tubes). But is there any point when a dropper won't go all the way in anyway? The extra reach means I'd go down to a small which is great but not if my seat post has 3" poking out the top of the frame. I'll be honest I'm considering buying up a few OG Scouts while I can cus I'm worried...

Rad stuff. Be curious to put a longer stem (like a 60 - gasp) on the non SBG bike and also note the findings. I think another way to look at all this is weight distribution. Ideally, we find ourselves in a neutral position weighting both wheels equally. This (weight distribution) was the genesis to my whole "short chainstays suck" argument. I never considered altering fork offset to also address this problem... Cool stuff.

Would have been cool if they had done it blind. Tester's show up, aren't told which bike has new goodness. Let them rip bikes back to back and see if they notice anything. Otherwise I'm suspicious of placebo.

I think that all mountain bikers should look at wheel size, like golf clubs. There is now good match for different track conditions & fetures. Super Ruff 29 Middle ground 27 Super tight and technical 26 Wheal radious will gain benefit based in the trail conditions & features. just need a bike cadey now.. Sir your 26R

What is The Remedy 8 I live in Southern Utah and ride a variety of terrain. From buff BMX style hard pack, to the slick rock ledges and drops of Gooseberry and the other Mesas. I'm not a racer now days but I need a bike that I could saddle up and ride in a 24 hour relay or pony up to ride an enduro. I also need a bike that won't break the bank (is there such a thing anymore), so aluminum is usually my choice. I was looking for an updated long travel trail bike to replace my...

Nice write up, I was most impressed by the rear suspension as well. Tonnes of grip, very active but more mid stroke than most air shocked bikes and it had that awesome feeling of the bike coming up underneath you on jumps as if you were clipped in even though you're not. I've got a Transition Scout now that I love but the rear end feel isn't as nice as the Remedy I tested.

ThomDawson Added a comment about feature Vital MTB Face Off: The Best Dropper Seatposts

Lots of complaints about this or that post not being included...I guess thats the trouble when you do group tests...difficult to include every single option on the market. But I have to commend Vital for such an in-depth and comprehensive test. This is what PB seem so reluctant to do and what a lot of people have been asking for. Well done guys, moar pls.

One of the best product shootout articles I have ever seen. Amazing work!! And thank you for doing all the testing for us. I will definitely be on a Revive for my next build

the concept of more wheel sizes creating an unfair advantage in terms of cost/access is ridiculous....every single one the racers complaining has had access to prototype/one-off components for years. i don't recall anyone flipping out over SC creating a $100k XXL V10 frame just for Minnaar, and no one seems to be upset over Sram's Black Box program. just took a quick peak at Danny Hart's rig last year and immediately saw at least 5 parts no one else could ever get ahold of. if an even playing field is a true concern these riders should be aggressively lobbying for...

I read this all the time too and have to scratch my head a bit. I've really seen no evidence of this at all other than than the odd section like what was done to 100m of MSA last year (and if anyone can remember back to the old MSA start straight from 2007'ish they've actually added about a dozen corners over the years to just that section alone). MSA has always been the freeway of the circuit going back decades. Ft. William remains relatively unchanged since its a permanent track, though rumors of a new lower section this year...

I still can't get over how the underlying assumption that big wheels are always faster is the case. I still stand by the idea that it depends on the track, the rider, the conditions, other attributes of the bike etc.

Again, looking at the qualification times, it's was super tight and nothing really out of the ordinary other than Loris having a blazer, but he was a top 10 contender all last year as was shaw. I guess we still need to see where race runs place them, but I see no advantages so far in times
