Depending on where you live, but my favorite used to be dropper posts and now is being approached by the timberbell. We have a ton of other trail users out and I can turn it on for the DH and most people I see are already off the trail having heard me coming long before I see them. I get 'thank yous' from people and in general, has done a ton to reduce my trail conflict in my area as they get more popular. Fight or flight is triggered when people are scared and by no longer scaring anybody on...

I’ve said this many times... The best thing I ever did was put DH casing tyres on my bike. I’ve tried some pretty whacky stuff, stupid head angles, fork offsets, stems, all manner of shocks and forks, bikes 2 sizes too big for me. The only thing that I stuck with is having a nice, damped tyre on the front. If I had to choose a second it would be steep seat angles and dipping the nose of the saddle. I pedal so much better when I’m further forward over the BB. I can get myself up the hill with...

For the last very long while, it's hard to go wrong with a: Maxxis Minion DHF 2.5 ... front and rear. Every venture in another direction over the years keeps me coming back to the above. You might be able to eek out smidgens of performance with other combos on certain days, but in general if these do you wrong, it's hard to say it was the tires.

I definitely agree with this one. Not sure if it's because of the different 'wear patterns*' front vs rear, but even on road or gravel bikes I stick with replacing the rear tire with a fresh one. * front tire is mostly worn from braking forces, whereas rear tire is worn from both braking + accelerating forces which lead to different wear on the front vs back of knobs. Similarly, front tires corner more calmly than rear tires (though I am in no way good enough to 'get loose' and really experience this). Maybe I'm wrong on this one?

Here's a thought: don't rotate your tires. I used to do this, too, but then I realized my front tires lasted 2-3 times longer than rear tires. Now I replace rear tires when they're worn, and typically my front tire looks fine. As a bonus, this allows me to buy a harder compound/longer lasting rear tire. Right now I'm running...

Sweet edit, but when are the redbull style canned guitar rock soundtracks going to die? They are ruining at least 50% of online bike videos these days. There is so much good music out there, please someone make these crap soundtracks go away!

Very cool video guys. The Runt is a solid product for sure. However, I would respectfully disagree with a lot of the assertions made in this particular post: What we would say is that for a rear shock, the coil is a really great option. Rear air shocks require tight seals to be able to handle the air pressure, especially at full compression. This in turn creates at lot of extra friction on the entire system. With the coil spring, it alleviates a ton of friction, and gives you un-matched suppleness and mid-stroke support. Obviously, air springs have more...

This is a question that we get a lot these days considering the mass offerings of coil spring conversions available on the market. What we would say is that for a rear shock, the coil is a really great option. Rear air shocks require tight seals to be able to handle the air pressure, especially at full compression. This in turn creates at lot of extra friction on the entire system. With the coil spring, it alleviates a ton of friction, and gives you un-matched suppleness and mid-stroke support. The limitation of the coil spring has always been being able...
