It seems I was wrong - apparently he's just bought the IP, not the businesses, hence everyone being laid off now. I imagine he'll just use Nukeproof, Vitus, etc brand names on generic bikes in the same way he has with Muddy Fox. Bad times.

I'm an old guy from Spain. Three years ago I bought and ebike "to do some exercise". There's a small bikepark/trail network near my house. Got into some e-enduro and felt in love with them gravity things, so I started following the DH WC and EWS and got obsessed with all things MTB. Last year I introduced a friend who is s trial-bike guy to the WC and he is now a fan too. Been feeding him snippets from this amazing thread about the "silly season". Yesterday, he asked me:" any news from Mondraker?" Told him "the espionage things were...

It is buried deep on some paperwork. That's around P46 or so of a 51 page legal document that's publicly available. Listing the address of creditors in documents like this is standard practise, as has already been covered by people in this thread.

More like I finally have the option of a downhill bike so I want to see what all the hype is about. I am plenty happy with Enduro and from what I've heard internally, contrary to rumours, Enduro isn't going anywhere. But just wait till you see my latest bike, new year new me.

Between the lines of your post is an unfortunate reality about Danny — the most memorable thing he will ever do in his career was over a decade ago, and is in fact largely about Rob Warner’s announcing, not Danny himself. As an aging racer with diminishing results, anything he can do (aside from coming back with another 2011-World-Champs-style performance or multiple World Cup wins) is going to be overshadowed by *that run.* Sponsors don’t really get to cash in on that retroactively, either. It was done on a Giant, and always will have been done on a Giant. With...

Possibly, although it's unlikely a US-only series would ever really rival the World Cups (or at least any time soon), so it all still acts as a feeder for riders and viewers for World Cups in a way. A rising tide lifts all ships, etc...

There were 7 different winners in 8 races this year. DH is not short of "podium threats", and not just podium threats "on their day". Ultimately, Cube have the figures to know if it was working out or not. If it was I imagine they would have re-signed him at the end of this initial 3 year deal. For the...

Unless this is what they want to help facilitate their plan of reduced team/rider numbers at World Cups? The only way that works is stronger National level racing...

Continuing the chat of Danny Hart, I'm also in the camp where he doesn't really come across as much of a "personality" to me, but also not someone who's had particularly great results over the past year. I have a feeling some companies are also just taking a harder look at which riders are really driving sales. I know Danny's...

It'd be interesting to know what Isabeau's getting from her sponsors - she's fairly dominant which you'd hope would come with a reasonable renumeration. Related to that, the same goes for Melanie Pugin. Riding weird brands with non-endemic sponsors would suggest it's for the money, but I wonder how much that really is.
In a way they did build out that streaming app - my understanding of it is Discovery funded it through their investment in that group, which WBD then inherited when the merger happened. They continued to fund it beyond that point too, further developing the app. Not saying this to really change opinions or anything, just clarify things a little...

My turn to chime in...... While I agree with almost most of you, not all, but most. Plain and simple. Money. Money is the root of all evil. I did pay for GCN last year because I've never missed a race in almost 20 years. I do wake up at 2am, 3 am, 4am because nothing beats live coverage. Highlights are cool and all. But nothing beats live coverage. Do I think 2023 coverage was up to par. Sure. Absolutely. Drones were troubling at times. To the one commenting on Rob and what not. Yes. Ric and Cedric need some...

Continental GT has got ultimate "marriage of convenience" vibes. Continental lose their bike partner and need a new one, GT don't want to have a Factory status team any more but still have product, 🤝.

The GCN app and GCN+ streaming service were the dedicated app/service for watching bike racing. From the GCN closure announcement video it sounds like they were doing fine, and performing above WBD's expectations, but this is part of a much bigger push by WBD to consolidate their streaming services to save money/boost subscriptions. A quick reminder that WBD are something...
That's the case with these brakes, they have a 'failsafe' like that built in. It gets explained in the Tech video about them: It is interesting to see how many people are talking about failsafe systems when no existing brakes have them. All of our hydraulic brakes default to the open position regardless - as my friend found out when...
