In pedal sports where the advantages of fitness & talent are microscopic, I still can't see the motor being an even leveling of the playing field for the elite. Richie is punished in battery-enduro because he has the same "output": motor as his competitor. A woman who is slender can be punished equally. The mopeds have a sweet spot for rider (they should be called jockeys) weight to power ratio. Above or below that threshhold, your competitors quite literally have an easier race. It is quite literally the most unequal sport I can think of.

In the raw practice video from Round 1, they had EDR and EDR-E in the same video. Even before you could work out what bike they were on (E or not) you could tell because the way you have to ride the ebikes is so different. On the tighter, techer sections the non-E riders were taking way more interesting, creative...

Correct. Keen to see how things shake out at Finale. Genuinely have no idea what kind of form everyone's in - it seems most of the top riders have all had fairly smooth off-seasons?
Nope, it's Drum & Bass, as in the music used on it. Some people abbreviate it to DNB. The fancy studio shots before the big dogs ride showing off the bikes and kit look fairly pro, and the amount of course covered was nice, but that's totally undone by not broadcasting semis, zero communication about why, and then making it...

I didn't quote the original post as it's a few pages back but thanks to all at Vital involved in the Fox podcast interview. Really insightful. SX chat especially so!

That's not really backed up by the prosecution/conviction statistics at all. e.g.: "According to figures from the French Ministry of Gender Equality, every year in France, 94,000 women report being victims of rape or attempted rape. But in 2021, barely 1 percent of the reported assaults resulted in a conviction." In the UK it's still extremely hard to get a...

I always forget I have an avenue to let you know about these things somewhat directly, so while I've remembered: great work on the podcast. Really enjoyed it and felt like I learned a lot about Aaron.

I edited it because I can't say for certain that that's the case, but if even I had heard the rumours (with no industry connections/insiders), I find it impossible to believe that someone like Barel wouldn't have. Even if he hadn't, someone in the team absolutely would have done, and again I find it hard to believe it wouldn't get...

His group is accused of bad corporate practises, paying below minimum wage, putting companies they own into administration to avoid redundancy payments, buying shares in rival companies in an attempt to destabilize them, changing locks on business companies they've bought into, not paying rent due on premises. The list goes on. Obviously he denies all these accusations (apart from the one about minimum wage, he happily admits that), but he can't deny what a shitshow he turned Newcastle FC into when he was the owner. There's an eye opening article here for anyone interested. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/jun/07/mike-ashley-sport… All in all he's a...

Few thoughts... 1) Trailforks is a great cash flowing app. I know its adjacent to PB but its important to note Outside is likely making real money from the space. 2) I see traffic numbers all over the place for PB, but I hear they do 70-100M page views per month. Do the math on a CPM basis even running something like AdSense. When you ad up all their revenue streams (adsense, brand specific ad packages, youtube, podcast advertising etc etc), I'd guess they are doing something like $3-8M/yr 3) Expenses are relatively low, even with all their "content overhead"...
