48-49ish pounds for a full power ebike with dh/dd tires is my sweet spot. If it's an SL ebike, then 43-45 would be the target. The problem for me is that I need to run the same tires (within 100 grams at least) on an SL ebike that I need to run on a full power ebike. That means that the lightest I can reasonably get an XL, SL ebike down to is really like 44-45lbs. My 2025 SC bullit is 49lbs ready to ride with DH tires. That's the sweet spot for me. I’ve been fortunate enough to extensively ride full-power e bikes ranging from ~43 to over 63 pounds, in roughly 5-pound increments. Each weight bracket brings its own personality and trail performance. 1. The 60+lb beasts These heavy hitters dominate flatish, high-speed, bumpy terrain. Their sheer mass helps them power through rough ground with a confidence that’s genuinely grin-inducing. My norco range VLT is 30kg (66lb) that's too heavy. Combine that with a 462mm chainstay and I've basically got a YZ250 with pedals. I'd say for full power, it wouldn't want to exceed 24kg (52lb) in today's bikes with a build that could take some abuse. To answer your question, yeah weight does matter but it's relative. If a heavy bike had a tall stack and short rear end it could be totally fine. I only find my bike too heavy when bunnyhopping mostly.

Here is the official retirement announcement from Camille Balanche - what an incredible career she has had, stepping into the sport so late (only a couple of years after picking up her first bike!), and achieving what she did is no mean feat. From the consumer side it definitely looks more complex, but from the manufacturing side even with all these options they have still reduced their SKU's, what was previously three bikes has now been wrapped into one frame, the only parts that change are the Rocker links and lower shock mounts which are pretty small and easy to manufacture. Before they had three bikes, the Remedy, Gen 5 Slash and Fuel, each with their own corresponding parts, e.g different rocker links, different chainstays, different seatstays, different frames, etc. Now with the new model, you have one frame, one set of seatstays/chainstays...
