Looking at the Sentinel, adding 20mm of stack via stem spacers shortens the reach by 10mm - effectively putting the handlebar position in the same spot it would be on the Titan... Also, being able to get about a 15mm longer chainstay on the Titan makes a big difference to f/r balance meaning you don't need to ride over the front as much. This makes the bike fit 'bigger' - at least looking at it from standing over the bike. Seated position would be another ballgame.

Adding stack does effectively add reach, because you would use less spacers to get the same bar height. Said another way - If you have two bikes with the same reach and head tube angle but one has a higher stack, that one will have a longer front-center.

So your friend just jams in a hub that is 9mm wider than the chainstays are designed for? What shop does he work at? Just so I can make sure I never go there.

Can’t speak for anyone else, but I usually buy frames and swap parts over as I like all my parts. Superboost wouldn’t be a full on dealbreaker for me, but it makes it more of a hassle than it needs to be. It seems like an all-downside situation to me, so why do it

Hey all – thanks for the great discussion and thoughtful feedback, it’s been great to follow. Just to jump in with some info from our side: The Chain Damper was originally developed for aggressive DH and winch-and-plummet style Enduro riding—especially the kind we do here in the UK with steep climbs and even steeper descents. The standard spring setup is tuned to perform best when descending hard, where the damper really shines and this is why you'll see the unit on a number of WC bikes this season. That said, we totally get that not everyone rides the same terrain...

Also, websites like this tend to be an echo chamber populated by a minority. The vast majority of people don’t care. I’m 6’3” and honestly, if the post is 170mm+ I don’t even think twice about it.

in Brian Cahal's YouTube video, they take a 2016 Bronson vs 2024 Bronson on 2 tracks and their times are pretty much identical. Has to say something. With e-bikes, the tech is changing so fast so I think a lot of potential buyers/upgraders are staying on the sidelines for a bit.

I feel a lot of people that would complain about the gearbox efficiency making a perceivable difference to their enduro or all mountain ride would be the same people with overbuilt wheels, fox 38, cushycores, and downhill casing tires for multiple blues a maybe a black diamond trail for their saturday ride. Then finish it off with pounding back 4 IPAs and some cake later that day.

Tangentially related, but it annoys me that most 4-bar designs run bearings in that rear pivot instead of bushings. That location gets showered with water and grime, and they have always been in a disgusting state whenever I've serviced the bearings on the 3 4-bar bikes I've owned. I recall reading somewhere that bushings are ideal for locations that consistently see small angle rotations, where bearings are better for larger angles (so that the bearings actually move further in the race). Main pivot and rocker/upper link - absolutely bearings. Rear pivot - bushings. I mean, a lot of brands are...

A bit of shameless promotion, but hopefully it's relevant. I just put out a podcast episode where me and Alan Milway chat through all the 2025 team moves (confirmed and rumoured). Hopefully it's an interesting watch/listen. https://youtu.be/Mu0JAhGceB8 or https://www.downtimepodcast.com/team-moves-2025/ Clearly this forum gets a mention! Thanks to everyone here who keeps the rumour fire burning, I personally love it!

I just reached out to Fox to better understand why you can't purchase the parts and the singular "special" tool to work on the damper. What you know, but maybe not everyone reading this is that most Fox shocks have an unique tool for this type of operation. So yes, unique to our shock, but not unique in the Fox aftercare/service world. I'll let you know what Fox comes back with and if we can't get it sorted quickly, assuming you actually want to work on these shocks, I'll ship you the tool. Just DM me your address. With that...

If I recall that brief conversation correctly, Dak was suggesting he was able to run lower pressures than normal with the new casing. My understanding of the way the shwalbe radial's work is you end up running higher pressure. I don't know anything about tires though so maybe they are and its just different.
