2/5/2025 12:42pm The drag isn't rolling drag, it's efficiency loss from pedalling, after the road gap at hardline you don't pedal, so a gearbox wouldn't cause a problem there.

2/3/2025 1:23pm Do Trek still run a dealer model in Canada? Trek in Aus is run by Trek Australia now, they went on a buying spree and bought a whole bunch of established stores and converted them to Trek stores, a few independent Trek sellers are still around still.

2/2/2025 12:45pm Well the tariffs are coming. Good luck to DaVinci, Norco, Transition etc, brands that do a lot of cross border sales. I wonder since a lot of the frames are made in Taiwan and shipped from Taiwan they won't be tariffed. Unfortunately products like Vorsprungs new shock will now be 25% more expensive for Americans.

1/29/2025 3:47am Its possible you just got a lemon. Bad bushing tolerances, slightly bent uppers causing alignment issues. Plenty of valid mechanical reasons why your fork can be bad but others good. Its not just setup related. Sometimes a product is a dud. I'd go Ohlins, out of the box they provide the best damping. Only thing comparable is much more expensive...

From my observations, it seems swapping to a different resin, or even just using more or less hardener in a resin mix, can make a huge difference in the overall feel of a structure. I have run into this when trying various carbon fiber shell saddles (with no cover or padding) where a bit of flex is really critical to making them sufficiently comfortable. 1/20/2025 11:57am How much does different resin types change the stiffness and feel of carbon? You don't really see many unique fibre types anymore, I remember having an old road bike with carbon kevlar forks. The rowing boats used to have kevlar in them frequently and have nomex honeycomb decks, everything is just carbon these days.

1/19/2025 5:50pm It's not quite the same, as knee and hip angles are different with different crank lengths. You can achieve the same final drive ratio with a long and short crank with different size chain rings, but they won't feel the same to use.

1/19/2025 5:04pm If you can find the tubes you can always change the geometry of the frame, smaller front triangle, larger head tube brace etc. It's also worth mentioning that steels most desirable trait is its compliance, stiff steel( large diameter)is too heavy which is why we use aluminum, or carbon for even stiffer triangles.
