I drank my first Red Bull when I moved to Germany at 18 years old (it wasn't sold in Canada back then) and it might have been one of the most profoundly disappointing experiences of my life. Years of hype and sponsoring the coolest athletes and events, for it to taste like... carbonated medicine. lol

He's still listed as an athlete on the RB site (although his bio hasn't been updated in a minute. Still talk of cars and the Jon Olsson Invitational keeping him busy. Lol) The post above makes sense, where he is now a legacy athlete or "friend of RB". I'm guessing once upon a time, his contract was huge with them...

Darren Berrecloth lost his RB helmet years ago. Not sure why, but he seemed like a good ambassador. Tanner Hall lost his RB helmet, despite still being one of the more recognized names in skiing, but Jon Olsson still has his, even though he hasn't put out ski content in... 5-10 years? Hardly even puts out car content anymore and...

Don't worry everyone: I already had a meeting planned with @sspomer this afternoon, so I'll be sure to tell him on all of your behalf what a terrible person he is and how we're not mad, just disappointed.

So after six years of Sspomer and other users redirecting non-tech rumour talk to individual threads (brake discussion, chain stay circlejerk, etc), Sspomer has now redirect ALL talk to individual threads. Damn.

Most excited to see Briole back on the list. He's been pretty much radio silence since his crash at Tasmania last year.

Thanks. I'm old. "Sheeper", not Sleeper. Love that guy's dj videos. Not Race Talk but...if you're a fan of steeze, this guy's turn-downs and look backs are cranked. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=antRw5p5_5k

First time travelling internationally this summer (Canada to France). Here is my experience: Riding an XL RAAW Madonna (1305mm wheelbase). I after deflating the fork and compressing (used a ski strap to hold things down), I could barely fit the frame in an older Evoc Bike Bag Pro. I was not able to use the frame to mount the front...

Apart from article already mentioned by others, there was also this piece from Monde Diplomatique (it's in English) https://mondediplo.com/2025/02/11bikes This is not the type of investigative reporting I would expect from cycling news outlets except maybe Escape collective and even then I don't think they would truly go in depth as those kinds of issues most likely are present in others Taiwanese industries that cycling outlet wouldn't have the contacts, source or access. The migrant workers situation and issues is also not exclusive to Taiwan but other countries as well like Vietnam and mainland China for the bike industry. In other...

This is a good point, and was a big enough deal to make the Fox Factory earnings call (and the NY Times) However, as someone who has tried to lift the (Asian) veil and see what is on the other side, its pretty clear this will require boots on the ground to really begin to understand the culture, business norms, players, people and (maybe) harms/violations. Its not that I'm against it, at all, but this is 100% a "hobby" for me, not a career. I make basically no money. To add, if I'm really honest with myself, the type of...

Honestly, I'm surprised there hasn't been more fallout or investigation into Giant and the allegations of forced labour. It seems like one day there was an article about it and then a few weeks later, it was like, look everyone, there is a new STP! I would love to see a deeper dive into whether or not this is a...

@Downtime Podcast Been busy and have sporadically been able to follow the thread. I haven’t listened to the DT podcast. Haven’t listened to Brines debrief. But I do know this. MF asked/paid Chris to provide a platform. Chris did that. Jumping on Chris for not asking the right questions is crap. MF was on the back foot from the company crisis. Chris didn’t put him there. MF had every opportunity to at least clear the air and admit wrongdoing. At any point during the pod MF could have said “Let me say this about that”. MF had an open mic...

How many people do you really think there are listening to Downtime that don't already know what's going on with YT? If you're nerdy enough to be listening to a mtb podcast with the owner of a bike company, there's a pretty reasonable chance you've already got a base level understanding of what's happening.

You're very entitled to your own opinion, but I didn't hear the same contradictions you did. I've re-listened multiple times this morning and I still can't hear it the way you have. I heard Markus say they knew they were facing tough times but weren't expecting the PE firm to get to a point where they aren't willing to inject cash. The Fire Sale was an effort to get through that specific period without having to ask for more cash. That failed and then they were told 'no more'. As for your previous point, it's not exactly clear to me...
