Generalizing everyone that has ridden an eMTB "E-MTBers act like they the exception to the rules"....is bullshit. As I say in every trail meeting i've been to when this is brought up, we have always had 'an asshole' problem, it existed before electrics. This problem exists in skate, snow, surf, tennis, golf, etc.....not everyone is a cool law abiding person. So theres that. Oh, and your analogy about the bikes being heavier causing more damage-is funny. So-I am 140lbs, am I supposed to call anyone 160lbs and up a 'trail terrorizer'? Your last comment about EMTBers being rich, not working...

I agree. I know this sounds weird, but if you actually ride an ebike, you understand this. It is totally not a motorcycle. You still have to pedal on ebikes. The feeling is more like someone is pushing from behind, not a motor laying down horsepower. If you don't ride bikes normally, of course you may be a bit intimidated by it (Point #5, the first #5 that is). But that's what learning and practicing is for. And for those of us who actually ride bikes: Learning and practicing is FUN. My 2 cents is that the more I ride...

"The industry also needs to stop presenting that we are somehow better than motorized users because we have to pedal to access that power. It is immaterial that a motorcycle does not have to be pedaled." Nope. Pedal assist (along with speed caps) is the clear differentiator from a traditional motorcycle. There is a big difference between how you ride something with pedal assist and how you ride something with a throttle. With an eBike you get assistance on the way up (the power isn't free and is still limited by user output). On the way down you ride it...

Apparently everyone forgot to tell these two nobodies that ebikes are only for losers and old fat guys. Haha Seriously though, I've said it before and I'll say it again: Percent of people who hate ebikes before they try one: ~100% Percent of people who hate ebikes after they try one: ~0%

My kid loves rolling down the trail in the woods with me. She despises climbing up the trail in the woods with me. If an E bike pedal assist got my kid out on her bike with me, more often, I'd be all for it. This is it. ^^^

You should see a race at the Go Pro Mountain Games and a Northern California stop.

I bought my dad his first Ebike after his heart attack so that instead of deteriorating he can get better doing something, anything. He is onto his second bike, my mom now also has one and the entire family goes on riding holidays together. I can totally relate to this video and experience.

Ran into some of the original mountain bikers in Marin County one day and they were on ebikes. Pulling wheelies and having a good old time. Great to see that getting old doesn’t mean you have to stop doing what you love.

I wouldn’t worry about trail access issues boys......The E-Bike consortium is going to be so big in 5 years that they’ll be able to lobby .....not only for complete trail access- but that all trail users (hikers, horses, mtb) must yield to E-bike riders at all times. #ifyoucantbeatthemjointhem

Cool video. I'm 38 and although I've ridden with my dad on his eBike and my kids on their bikes, I've never put us all together for a ride. That would be sick - I'm inspired to do it now...

This really devolved quickly. Everyone has an opinion and that is ok. If you dont like ebikes then dont buy one. If you do like ebikes, go buy one. I think the fear of trails closing due to ebikes may be a little unfounded. Here in Colorado each area is doing studies, then making a decision on ebikes specifically. Maybe I am being the fun police here but the name calling is absurd. Let the McCauls earn their paychecks. Everyone has to make a living.

Newsflash: e-bikes don't cause any more access issues than normal mtb riders who ride the same illegal trails. Access was an issue even before ebikes existed. Any bike + illegal trails = pissed off rangers/city council members/grandmas/whoever. If a trail is illegal, than anyone riding it is a problem no matter what kind of bike they are on. This is coming from me, a guy who rides all the illegal trails on his normal mtb and admits he's part of the problem, but I can't resist the steeps. We are all equally guilty bud. West coasters have access issues as...

No no, not once have I told you to shut up. I made a generalised comment about whining, which if you read further actually tells 'you' (again that is a general use of the term, so please don't take it personally) to do more so your voice can be heard. Neither did I mention anything about location and laws, etc. FYI I totally agree that we live in different places which have all of and more of the differences you've written. There's no need to use them as an excuse because they are not relevant to my point. The reason...

Oh for fucksake, stop whining about trail access. Join a group, be constructive and give back to the sport in a positive way. Bitching all the time achieves nothing. Be a good influence in your local area and get more people involved then your voice will be bigger and will have more influence and then maybe you'll help to prevent the loss of trails rather than just crying when they're gone. Hell you might even get more opened. Just my 2...

That's an odd sentiment. You want cool videos like this to be produced but don't want to see any signs of money involved? These guys are athletes. How is the industry that produces videos like this supposed to grow and survive without money moving through it? Also, slapping a label at the beginning and end of a video doesn't make it a commercial.
