Thicker yes. Two layer no. If it is layered, it's three layers with the black being a mid layer and two similar silver layers on top, one on each side (see pic 17 - https://www.vitalmtb.com/photos/features/PIT-BITS-2021-WORLD-CHAMPS,134… - the silver bits go over the same carrier arms on both sides, so a black arm is black). I just hope these are not aluminium sandwich rotors like Shimano does it... Those things are horrible, wear them out a bit too much and you have no brakes. Hey Guys, another update. Austin was one of the first people I called after getting hurt. We're buddies and talk/ride together fairly regularly. I let him know what was up and wanted to confirm that he was staying in Europe for the next month like I thought he was. He's racing Maribor this weekend and isn't planning on coming back home until after the WC in Switzerland next month either way. That was good news as he's easily ready to go if I pull out. One thing that isn't being accounted for is volume.. CSG which owns GT and Cannondale moves a lot more product than Pivot.. That helps with pricing , especially at lower price points. Going spec to spec, that $100 difference is not bad..

the $6,000 gt and the $6,099 pivot are extremely comparable w/ spec. pivot doesn't offer a Yari/SX-level model and GT doesn't offer an AXS/live valve model. just comparing "high end" or "low end" doesn't mean much w/o context.
