10/10/2022 1:58pm 3rd'd. Sometimes, I feel like the dual compound actually grips a bit better too. Obviously, 3c maxx grip and maxx terra are going to grip better if they have a surface to dig into... but once things turn to silt, kitty litter or deep loose over hard, the DC treads/lugs seem to penetrate that stuff better to dig in. Maybe it's me just justifying running them so that I get more then 3-4 weeks out of a rear tire...

My assumption from watching this video (and others) of Dave riding, is that he smashed the rocks into gravel and these trails are now just flow trails. Man, Dave hammers. Can't think of a better person to be testing and pushing suspension products. Dude's the king of good vibes and modest shredding.

8/12/2022 11:29am It would be great to see more non-endemic sponsors step into the promotion of our sport, but you can simultaneously express skepticism about their motives or about particular brands, these things aren't mutually exclusive. I don't think this is a "beggars can't be choosers" situation. The "old" big sponsors were what? Paul Mitchell, Chevy Trucks, Ralph Lauren (RLX), Swatch? I'm...

8/9/2022 12:20pm rumor of the day is whistler getting a WC round next year and that schedule announced this weekend. if ever there was a "triple event" venue, whistler is obviously it. maybe it's announced during crankworx? again, no idea how sound these rumors are, so I'll keep holding breath like everyone else.

8/8/2022 12:35pm I heard something about this years ago – specifically about a WC DH course down there. Something about Lake Leatherwood? I suppose the Walmart heirs could just buy a mountain and transport it to Arkansas. A Walmart DH track could be quite something – riders would have to deal with the usual drops, gaps, etc, but also watch out for...

8/2/2022 12:24pm I remember a conversation I had ~10 years ago with Martin Whitely about putting LEDs inside goggles to indicate splits. This was during the TFR days when they were definitely thinking outside the box a bit – doing things like warming their bikes up before runs to get the fluids to the right viscosity and messing around with aerodynamics. I'm...

7/21/2022 3:26pm You don’t need to understand anything? Fascinating. In the spirit of posting random links, here is a heterosexual cop twerking with a member of the lgbtq community during a pride event. He sadly died from cancer after heroically serving at the twin tower attacks on 9/11. https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/nypd-officer-twerked-parade-dies-9…

7/21/2022 3:25pm That's unfortunate. There is a lot of information in the last third of this interview that can help someone like yourself understand the queer community. It might be tough to have your thoughts challenged, but change fosters growth.

6/17/2022 11:50am Are you factoring in the opportunity cost of explaining your purchase and talking about your Tesla vs. doing something productive?
Just ribbing ya, I wish I had an electric car. I was fortunate to be a position to buy a car early in the pandemic when dealers were virtually giving them away. I snagged a fully loaded 2017 Passat...

6/16/2022 2:41pm Very lucky to have riding nearby and a Prius with a bike rack, so gas prices don't affect this decision for me. If I still lived in Portland and drove a V8 Ford van, I might feel differently. When I was in Portland, other than our quirky little illegal spot at Riverview, mountain bike rides were a minimum of 75 minutes away.

6/16/2022 8:33am That Hope Boost conversion kit adds 3mm to each side of a 142mm hub, so where your cassette is compared to a "true" boost hub is 3mm further inboard. So that's why you have a bad chainline – you're using a boost crank (52mm CL) on a non-boost drivetrain position, essentially. As you mention, using the 8120 crank would make...
Lucent Liked a comment about product review Long-Term Review - Fezzari La Sal Peak
6/15/2022 11:12am As an owner of two Fezzari bikes (Delano and now their Empire SL), this bike is super tempting for those shuttle runs, park days, or anytime I want a bit extra travel. Been overly delighted with how my Delano climbs and descends, and can echo the sentiment that I IMMEDIATELY felt super comfortable on this bike from the get-go.
