MoldyMTB Started a new thread Hope Tech 4 V4 Tips?
7/23/2026 10:01pm Going to be doing my first bleed on my hope tech 4 v4 brakes. I have watched a few tutorials and have their easy bleed kit, so I have a general idea of what needs to be done. I've bled Shimano brakes before as well. Mainly what I'm hoping for is tips and tricks that might not be found in...

I bought a few of their small bits and pieces once but sent them back because they were cheaply finished and the colour of the anodising was weird and washed out. They seem legitimate, just cheap & cheerful.

Used to be pretty big (and cheap) back in the DJ and huck-to-flat freeride days. Overbuilt, overweight stems, massive seatpost collars... that's what immediately comes to mind. 😄 Just Google Da Bomb Projectile and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Da Bomb was 200% meathead before anyone even knew what a meathead was. 😄

7/23/2026 2:54pm Haven't heard of that brand in many years. I can't speak for that frame you ask or for their current catalogue, but a ridding buddy had a DJ frame from Da Bomb many years ago ( I am speaking 2008/09), it was mounted as a long travel hardtail and I still remember that bike felt like a tank and was able to survive quite some abuse as it was our only ride for downhill, dirt jump, 4x and fooling around in the streets. My colleague's bike was this frame, the looks are quite polarizing, but maybe that is why I...

I have come across this "DA BOMB" Taiwanese brand while hunting for stems and have been surprised by how cheap some of their products are. They have been around for a very long time (28 years apparently), and are based in Taiwan, the same place a lot of MTB stuff is made. I do get very strong alibaba vibes, like...

MoldyMTB Added a reply to The Ultimate Spectator MTB Race Format?
7/7/2026 8:52pm Ah you arent being a hater, good criticisms. For the climbs, im thinking stuff that is a nice level of difficulty with multiple lines. Something that would be possible on a regular bike, but perhaps would be too demanding to do for multiple laps on an analog. Hard and steep enough that itd be faster to ride up than walk/carry...
MoldyMTB Started a new thread The Ultimate Spectator MTB Race Format?
7/6/2026 1:48pm I regularly hear people say XC is the most spectator friendly race format for mtb, which makes sense since it's on a circuit that offers more visibility in person, multiple riders on track is fun, and its likely easier to broadcast live as well. So why not try this: create an XC course on steroids; extremely technical climbs, Enduro/DH style...

MoldyMTB Added a reply to PNW Components Gets High - New Range 75mm rise alloy handlebars
6/29/2026 7:50am I've tried going up to 50mm rise, but ended up landing at 35mm-40mm as my happy place. 75mm is so dang high haha.

6/27/2026 4:49pm Also, for anyone who doesn't know, Patagonia has a pretty solid selection of used apparel available at any given time on their " Worn Wear" site. Some of it is repaired or refurbished, some of it's in great shape from somebody who didn't need it anymore and sent it in to the mothership for resale. I don't need a Houdini pullover right now, but it's nice to know they had seven different color options available in the men's pullover when I checked this morning:

6/27/2026 4:48pm I clicked this thread thinking: "This is going to be about a Transition". Transition has had issues with frame alignment for years. I had one so bad the hole for the main pivot was 2-3 inches away from where it should have been and had to be twisted to get into place. I don't think I've ever seen a single carbon Transition frame that was properly aligned, it's not a huge sample set, but 4-5 and all were out of alignment. What I would suggest doing is disassembling the rear link. If the swingarm is out of alignment, it'll be...

6/23/2026 4:48pm Unless you live somewhere it's cool to ride in the rain, don't try be cool by getting a hoodie. The hood will be an annoying and stupid fashion accessory. I'd highly recommend the OR Deviator for the jacket. For a vest I have a Patagonia Dirt Roamer, but I'd look hard at sizing down. OR Deviator vest is also good, but weirdly has a thicker front than the jacket. Don't ride in it very much at all. I also have an old Sweet Protection windbreaker jacket, but I think they went and put a f'ing hood on it, so I...

6/23/2026 4:41pm Easiest way is with a string. Clamp the front brake so the front wheel won’t rotate. Take a string long enough and pull it from the forward most part of the front tire to the rearward most portion of the rear tire. With the front tire parallel with the frame you can see if the rear wheel is displaced laterally or if it not parallel with the frame/front wheel.
