I have come across this "DA BOMB" Taiwanese brand while hunting for stems and have been surprised by how cheap some of their products are.
They have been around for a very long time (28 years apparently), and are based in Taiwan, the same place a lot of MTB stuff is made. I do get very strong alibaba vibes, like its just cheap and poorly made... but the age of the company makes me second guess that thought, surely they couldn't exist for that long if all their stuff is low quality right? I noticed they even had a bike of the day showcase on Vital.
Anyways im just curious if anyone here has seen any of their stuff in person (especially their frames)? Really intrigued for some reason haha. If they arent complete garbage it may be fun to attempt a super low budget DH build or something w/ one of their frames.
Haven't heard of that brand in many years. I can't speak for that frame you ask or for their current catalogue, but a ridding buddy had a DJ frame from Da Bomb many years ago ( I am speaking 2008/09), it was mounted as a long travel hardtail and I still remember that bike felt like a tank and was able to survive quite some abuse as it was our only ride for downhill, dirt jump, 4x and fooling around in the streets.
My colleague's bike was this frame, the looks are quite polarizing, but maybe that is why I still remember it so many years later π
Used to be pretty big (and cheap) back in the DJ and huck-to-flat freeride days. Overbuilt, overweight stems, massive seatpost collars... that's what immediately comes to mind. π
Just Google Da Bomb Projectile and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
Da Bomb was 200% meathead before anyone even knew what a meathead was. π
I bought a few of their small bits and pieces once but sent them back because they were cheaply finished and the colour of the anodising was weird and washed out. They seem legitimate, just cheap & cheerful.
I have their headset thru-bolt on a DH bike. Works fine, looks fine, I would buy again.
Da Bomb Proof. I've ridden their stuff. That suck to flat hardtail survived quite a beating.
