The purchase price of a product in no way reflects the margin to the manufacturer, especially in times like this. While @Dave_Camp has inside knowledge from the engineering side, I have the same sort of insights from the finance side. I can tell you with high amounts of confidence a lot of the pricing we are (still) seeing is not sustainable When your margins don't support your baseline cost to run your company + cost of capital, you will end up in bankruptcy. Most bike brands have been at the mercy of the big 3(ish*) for a few years now. Their orders are exponentially larger than the rest of the brands, and thus, due to whatever internal pressures they might be facing, drive the pricing we see today. YT is/was a disruptor, but they are still collateral damage as far as I can see. *major players differ by market

I find it very ironical and super hypocritical for somebody like the YT main guy to whine about ”discount wars”, when they basically were the ones who brought this aggressive pricing strategy to the market. I hate to make funny of a crappy situataion for everyone at YT but I had to LOL at the "severely impacted by the global discounting battle in the bike industry" line - they were literally one of the first and most aggressive brands to offer high spec bikes at crazy prices. So its no surprise they are now one of the first of those to be struggling

Hopefully they learned from the gen6 EX that a carbon drivestay chainstay can’t be 7mm thick in profile just to clear a chainring. I’m on my 3rd chainstay at this point.

Yes, I agree that we're hearing a lot of different perspectives on the same tire. If I can expand on what I said earlier, I think it's actually a combination of what others have said. As a rear tire, I get a lot of squirm and fold from the Conti DH casing is I don't run extra pressure, about 3-5 psi more than I would on a Maxxis DH casing. But as a front tire, it feels wooden and transmits a lot more trail feedback compared to a Maxxis. It still managed to grip fine, I never had sketchy moments...

Having lots of fun playing with tires now that I can can vary from my race setup. On the Sentinel, I’ve swapped from the Conti DH (agree with @TEAMROBOT that they feel kinda wooden in the front) to Radial Albert 2.6 US front and Albert 2.5 soft in the rear. They seem to roll faster, grip better, and add a coil-like feel to the bike that I wasn’t entirely expecting when hitting square edges or root balls. So far, my only gripe is that the 2.6 Albert doesn’t come in Trail casing. The Gravity version is probably unnecessary for me...
