It all depends on the bike, tbh. I've ridden all the new Di2 stuff on a ton of different bikes, and I've found that chain sizing really matters. I've tested T-Type and the new Di2 back-to-back on the same bikes, and while SRAM does do a slightly better job of keeping the spazzing to a minimum, it's certainly not perfect. The dual-spring on Shimano takes about 5-6 lbs of force to break free when in the smallest cog on the cassette, and the SRAM T-Type clutch takes about 7.5-8 lbs to break free no matter what cog. The new hanger/ Dura Ace group was discussed on the Geek Warning podcast recently and they said the new hanger was to allow the smallest cog to sit further outboard (pushing into the space SRAMs "sandwich" design clamps the dropout) because the 13-speed cassette uses the same hub driver and chain as 12-speed (so cog spacing is also the same as 12sp).

Yeah I went and checked and see it's the same. This is terrible. Not only are you stuck with a bunch of non-standard parts you can only get from the company that sold you the bike, you're also stuck with what is essentially a 35T chainring. Fine on a DH bike I guess, but on an enduro bike that's supposed to get pedalled? Who is going to live with that?? The latest generation of the Mega aluminium frame, released in 2021 has internal routing. The carbon frame also had internal routing on the previous generation from 2017ish, maybe earlier.

Love my current Phoenix, and I'd love to get my hands on a new one. However, I'd rather Pivot fix their customer support outside of the US before I invest so much on a bike from them again. Also, kudos to Vital for having a legit large rider test bikes. It's hard to take a 'durability review' form a 150lb rider seriously.

The price for the complete bikes seems pretty competitive. Seeing this thing being prototyped the last several years I thought it was going to be a 10k plus bike.

The nighttain has a 20T for the larger of the jackshaft rings, not sure about the smaller, and a 27T chainring. A chain link rotates 11.25 degrees (22.5 total) going onto and off a 16T idler and 9 degrees going onto a 20T ring. Add in the fact that there are two rings on the jackshaft and that's at least 18 degrees total. A little more because one of the rings is smaller by the looks of it. Then the smaller chainring is a little less efficient than a 32T. Maybe if you compare it to a bike that uses...

The RS version of the Genie could be really good or an improvement. My problems with the Fox version were mostly lack of adjustments, real useable LSC, and any HSC adjustment. Running one band but adding some HSC to reduce how quickly the Fox blew through the travel could be cool.

Buzzwords. They should just use “light/mid/heavy” for casing options across all brands.

I just write down the part number for the exact tires I already own. I do this with every tire brand but Maxxis is notoriously confusing. Really glad that Schwalbe went to just “trail” and “gravity” casings at least. I’d praise Conti for doing “trail/endurance”, “enduro”, and “downhill” casings but when searching for “enduro” casing it’s really easy to accidentally buy an “endurance” casing.

That is so true. I have Maxxis on most of my bikes, even my wife's bike, and every time I need to order new tires, I have to refresh myself with all of their nomenclature and different models.

It will be a long time, if ever, before the DHF truly goes away. The DHF is available in 20, 24, 26, 27.5, and 29” diameters, a couple width options, and endless spec permutations between compound and casing. It would take years, literally, to move all those specs over to the DHX tread.
