12/19/2024 1:57am This is making no sense at all, you can't ''pause'' a brand, lay off staff & athletes just to try to position yourself as a premium brand the year after. They're actually doing the complete opposite of what's required to reposition GT as a premium brand within the next two years.

12/18/2024 11:36am I don't question your judgement, I actually agree with it, but I can only say what has been said to be, no extras. It's only fair like that. Mx

12/18/2024 11:21am Regarding GT, a friend who lives in Cali just dropped me a message, saying that it's not as bad as it looks, that they will get rid of the 1000 bucks Zaskars and are looking to reposition GT as a ”top shelf brand” in the next two years. Don't know what his sources are, but he is an active rider...

12/18/2024 11:16am GT restructuring isn't a surprise to me. The only value they brought to the market was name only IMO. Another round of Horst link bikes in a sea of Horst link bikes, geo that was too neutral/old for market preferences, spec packages that didn't align with others (even from C dale!) in B&M retail, and a BMX line that was pretty much run of the mill at best. The company used to be an innovator in product and in spectacle. I'll forgive the loss of spectacle cuz that costs serious coin, but the pure plainness of what they've pushed out...

12/18/2024 11:14am I knew this was coming with Anna 's season last year. Mixed feelings- really stoked for Anna, sad that one more privateer team is going away. All the best to Anna and Abby next year!

12/18/2024 1:25am Some people said GT actually went away when Richard Long passed in 1997, as he was the heart and soul and driving force of the company, who shaped it into what it was in its glory days. I tend to agree, even if the last part of the 90's was pretty good rider-wise and bike-wise, with good results and good...

12/17/2024 4:05pm My 1st MTB was a brand new 1987 GT Avalanche Elite (the bike I'm on in my profile pic) that cost me $680 and I had to finance most of it at over 10% interest as a dumb 18yr old dude. I loved that bike and just recently donated it to a good home. GT will always have a special place in my heart and I hope they can return at some point in time.

12/16/2024 12:38pm on the topic of Pivot losing people. Camden Rutherford been riding an intense lately, this kid is absurdly fast. Weird that pivot let him go after so many years.

12/16/2024 12:37pm You know how rich dorks move into the cool neighborhood and then start complaining about the nightclub’s noise and the neighborhood starts sucking and becomes lame and they’re all looking around like what? That’s what this feels like. Union embodied the passion that truly drives the sport. Their whole thing was to help, not to earn. Pricing them out is not better for anyone.

12/16/2024 12:36pm Top comment from the other site pretty well sums up my thoughts on everything (exclusive of the last sentence, I’ll probably still watch because I’m an absolute mug)… ‘WBD keeps saying these changes are good for the sport, but I’ve never been less excited for a new season of World Cup. I have no plans to watch.’

12/14/2024 3:07am For some reason, Kate has deleted the goodbye post from her IG a few minutes before I wrote this. Wonder why... I opened her account from my laptop, clicked on the post, but it appears for like half a second, than it closes. Opened a new tab, photo appears deleted. I snatched a picture with my phone, thinking I am...

12/13/2024 4:56am That part of the Alps is granite or something similar (volcanic source, hard as woodpecker lips). Grippy AF. For us Slovenians, used to limestone which is slick at the best of times and is like ice in the wet, it was a complete WTF regarding grip levels when it was damp or wet. Better than dry in our neck of the woods.
