I read exactly what you wrote (and nowhere did you say you're trying to qualify for these things...good luck!) Your #3. seems to dismiss showing the bottom of the field because the faster guys end up rising to the top, and that the "only benefit" of a longer broadcast would she showing those bottom guys. Yes. That's a good benefit. They should do that again. Because it was awesome when they did. And hopefully that will include the entire field that has you in it soon. good discussion, everyone! agreed that logistics of quali broadcast would be tough b/c of multiple riders on track. also agreed about how grumpy/unappreciative people feel about the current state of the webcast. i'm pretty surprised at the "bring back freecaster" comments. i bet if we dug into the ridemonkey archives, we could find pages and pages of complaints about freecaster cutting out or not working well back then. i loved freecaster at the time, but there sure seems to be some nostalgic memory loss going on about then vs now. where are the dumbed-down tracks for cameras? i don't understand...

I was away this weekend but wanted to comment on a few things as I feel many people here are missing what I intended to suggest. First and foremost, I am not suggesting Red Bull starts charging for what they are currently producing!. (though they may, more on that below). I would pay to kick Red Bull out of the loop. I think it's really unhealthy to MTB to depend so much on an external private company. Obviously, Red Bull is doing amazing to develop the sport and their athletes but keep in mind their motivation is not to improve the sport, the viewership and the athlete experience but to maximize their exposure. We've seen many times how RB has a predatory and aggressive behavior, the influence the rules and the race formats.. I don't think it's sustainable.. What if Red Bull will collapse or will lose interest in mtb...

DON'T FREAK OUT AND THINK RED BULL IS TRYING TO CHARGE FOR WORLD CUP...this is all hypothetical... Brines started this whole thing by asking "Would anyone here pay for a "season pass" (like motocross) to be able to watch a live feed of qualifying? I would. Some thing are a matter of taste, but to debate the timelessness of TLD is a bit ridiculous. Think about it this way: if it wasn't for TLD, your helmet would probably look now like an evolution of a 1998 MET (Hello Guillaume Koch!) or Giro Mad Max or another heap of ugly lids. We can debate on the pajama look, I give you that, but beat in mind that as opposed to the techy look of Fox & co. TLD brought us hot rod coolness and Americana styling. Thought it was interesting he came down to "internet peasant land" (that's what I call it) to defend the product and ask Vital to pull the post. Part of me understands this. Part of me goes "cmon dude, that is overstepping a line you don't have control over". I understand he wants to be a good business partner for his sponsors. I still remember like a half-dozen guys or more in Florida on Karpiels who loved dropping loading docks on 3-inch Gazzalodies that were completely bald showing up at Western North Carolina DH prices on those bikes
