Jonathon Simonetti Liked a product review FIRST RIDE - 2024 Norco Optic and Sight

Norco's Optic created a lot of buzz for being a short-travel ripper with aggressive geometry when it last underwent a redesign in 2019. Meanwhile, the Norco Sight remained the silent workhorse in the mid-travel category focused on excellent all-mountain performance. For 2024, Norco has elevated the downhill performance of both bikes thanks to a new high-pivot suspension design. They maintain their respective on-trail handling while blurring the gap that separates the two bikes. The Optic now blends enduro-like geometry with short-travel trail performance, and the Sight packs enduro bike suspension performance into a more efficient, lightweight package. With more changes...

Nigel Page just put a goodbye and thanks post on Instagram. I find this super sad, as he is one class act as a human being. I read this as in ”hopes were still on until the last moment”. I can't wish him and the team anything else but the best. I want to add one more thing here: I met Pagey 22 years ago at the Worlds. He was injured and watched the races from the side and somehow I ended up talking to him. Being the kid in love with racing that I was and still am, I...

C'mon guys...weird discussion really If you use political correctness as a way of critique against someone, you're missing the point. If a rider gets a contract or not, is down to team owners. In times of Internet, there are many different reasons to hire a rider or not, and they're not always related to the rider him/herself. But that's not really up to you. That leaves the question: what do you gain from hating publicly on someone you don't even know. And even worse, hiding behind a username at the same time. Just try and find a better pasttime, it'll...

“ MoscoOne wrote: Katy couldnt fill in her forms properly.“ Making fun of a rider for having dyslexia, particularly when they have very recently addressed publicly that it’s a hard thing for them to be open about due to teasing and bullying, is just truly low behaviour and is not appropriate on this forum or anywhere else. If this is something you would do, or think is acceptable, please fuck off.

Heard the main reason Dak signed with mondraker is cause they are making him a signature handlebar, with 65mm rise and a crossbar.

Neko also has been very concerned about being able to manufacture these frames on a small scale while still hitting the required tolerances. I think a lot of the stuff the Norco proto has in it will be incredibly tight for tolerances (like the eccentric machined BB area, the front shock mount, etc.). Neko was having issues with just getting the swingarm to align well with the main triangle, which is why he went to carbon. Every one of those adjustment features built into the frame adds a lot of complexity and demand for strict tolerance. And besides this being...

It’s curious how Greg (Norco, really) and Neko are saying completely different things. Neko spends two years developing a race bike and concludes you can’t adjust anything independently, every change will affect something else. And complexity breeds its own challenges with marginal performance improvement. Norco heads in the exact opposite direction, highly complex suspension with claims of independent adjustability. Making those changes in isolation would be so time consuming. To slacken the head angle and keep bb height the same you’ve have to switch out flip chips for both. Changing HA alters your front center, unless you move the BB...

I have a conundrum I’d love some input on, I have been riding bikes for 20 years plus mostly dh but the last 8 years more enduro/trail. At 5ft 5” I used to always get mediums as smalls where just too short however the last two bikes I have had where medium Santa Cruz megatowers (2nd one was a warranty v2 first one was a v1 which I rode for 3 years) and they have me starting to feel like 450ish reach is definatley at my outer limits and maybe it’s time to try a small, as much for climbing...
