Just checked out geo charts for both bikes, and I would definitely recommend the medium V10 for you. If you're comfy on the S3 Stumpjumper with a 445mm reach, the medium V10 can be setup with as low as a 444mm reach. The small V10 is much smaller than your S3. https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/collections/v10/products/v10-dh-s-202… https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/collections/v10/products/v10-dh-s-202…

I loved dh bikes back in the day, looking forward to riding one again. The book spec wheelbase on my stumpy 15 is 1218mm but it measures 1237mm in reality which does take it into small sized dh bike territory. I assumed a smaller reach would be better on a dh bike but I will maybe have to look for...

My eldest boy has taken to downhill and it’s a good excuse to own a dh bike again for me to ride the the local shuttle tracks with him, rough steep and moderate speed is how I would describe them, down to the bedrock in most places. It will be the first time in decade I’ve owned a dh bike...

I've had to use the dremel to get 104 BCD rings to fit on my Ochain. There's a very short official list of chainrings that fit Ochain and a much longer list of chainrings you can bodge on there with a dremel. I say if it looks like it will fit after a quick dremel touch up, it probably will. Go for it.

Grabbed myself an OChain R at a pretty good deal but I’m having difficulty finding official sram t type chainrings that fit. The only one they say fits is an xx 104 chainring and no where in the uk seem to have stock of 32t versions. I have picked up a cheaper chainring from sram in 104bcd, its a t...

Where I ride clear are a must, I tried a few before landing on smith wildcats, I have ran them for 4 years, riding in the mud for 80% of the year 4/5 times a week and constantly cleaning them with a rag in my pocket when there muddy, lenses are a bit scratched but not too bad considering and...
I bought a cheap kit from epic bleed solutions and also the cheaper sram kit, to be honest the epic bleed solutions kit was better and cost half. The pro kit may be good I haven’t tried it, certainly expensive but after a bit of trial and error I am able to get very good bleeds with epic bleed solutions...
The bleeding edge is definitely the weak point, I know sram don’t want you to pull a vacuum on the calliper but it really is a good way to get these brakes bled or at least it was the only way I could get the brakes to work for me. The problem I had is with the calliper still mounted...

pre kids - lower service every month, meticulously maintained post kids - oh cool the fork has air in it still, good enough

Finally cracked them. They are perfect now. Bled the lever first with the caliper still connected to syringe, closed it up, took the caliper off and held it so the bleed port was upright and vacuum bled it with the syringe and hose sitting straight up, I think most of my problems stemmed from the bleed kit being rubbish, I’ve...
Any tips for getting these mavens running right, I’ve worked with many awkward brakes over the last 30 years but these ones are definatley the winner for the most awkward. Came stock on a new build Stumpjumper 15 (I would never buy them as I knew they’d be trouble) I have watched every video on the web and bled them...

I’m around 5’8 on an s3, I have 645 from center of bb to bottom of seat rails. I have a 170mm one up dropper with maybe 25mm it could be further inserted. You may want to go mullet for less ass to tire contact.

Craig_Nelson Started a new thread Anyone rode the latest trek fuel MX???

In the market for a new bike and thinking of going down slightly in travel from my nomad V6. The new trek fuel mx looks interesting but can’t find much in real world user feedback. I’m a small guy at 5ft 5” so the mullet bikes are perfect for me. Would love to hear any feedback on them.
