8/27/2024 6:39am I'm just about to put up my review of the Epic8 (this week) but have also extensively ridden the Transition Spur, Trek Top Fuel and Transition Smuggler (built light). Overall I'd highly encourage you to look at all of these bikes. Other bikes I'd put on the list include the Santa Cruz Tallboy, Yeti SB120, and the Ibis Ripley. IMO, there is a big difference in bike performance and feel between those chassis that are flex stay driven and those chassis that fully rely on pivots. If you are skewing toward doing a little racing and have a longer travel...

Craig_Nelson Started a new thread Can we talk modern XC bike capability on here?
8/27/2024 2:17am Not sure if xc/down country or whatever it’s called is a forbidden subject on here but thought I’d ask the question as it is gravity related. I’ve ridden bikes for 30 years give or take, for a good 20 years it was solely downhill racing and riding, then I discovered trail bikes and pedalling uphill so for the last decade...

5/10/2024 3:19am Anyone know when the new zeb is incoming? Badly need a new fork but would rather hang on if the new one isn’t far away.

3/14/2024 5:12am I used to race, and I liked the challenge of new trails or going faster on trails I knew. But now that I have kids, I'll ride anything just get out on the bike for a while. Same with skiing; I grew up racing, and only ever wanted to ski downhill. Now I will happily do a short XC ski just to get out in the snow. This is a good reminder, as pointed out by the original poll here, that there are so many ways to enjoy biking, that no matter what situation you find yourself in for this...

3/14/2024 3:16am I love going to a trail I know well, pumping out maybe 3/4 laps and feeling the speed increase every lap, usually by the 3rd of 4th I’m hitting everything just how I want, then I go home happy. (Also prefer it to be dark, damp and moody to make it the most enjoyable)
Craig_Nelson Started a new thread I’ve heard 23 fox float x2’s where bad but I didn’t expect this
2/6/2024 1:05pm UPS came bearing gifts today in the form of a new frame, I swear I only looked at the fox x2 in the box and it’s started leaking!!! Good thing I’m for bolting in a super deluxe coil as I’m a sram slut though was kinda curious to see what an x2 was like, I had one in 2018 and...

1/30/2024 11:13am I’d change all headtubes to the same diameter top and bttm so we could run reach adjust headsets that didn’t add any stack.

1/29/2024 11:30pm Just a standard round ring for me. It could be the type of climbing that’s killing them, it’s all winch and plummet, I’m lucky if I cover 2500 miles in a year for 780,000 vert, it’s all just steep grinding gravel path climbs here mostly in the mud. I might get the transmission and give it a go, anything for...

1/29/2024 10:38am What’s everyone using out there that’s actually lasting at the minute? Over the last 3 years I have probably went through 5 rear mechs. None of them broke but they just keep wearing out, 2 gx eagle mechs lasted probably 3 months each and by that stage the slop in the mech made shifting impossible to setup across the whole...

1/29/2024 10:38am I’m into this idea, I badly want the transmission but couldn’t justify the money but if it makes a difference to noise and I can get a good lifespan out of the rear derailleur. I really prefer to buy something and be able to service it over and over, throwing away derailleurs that look perfectly fine on the outside but...

1/29/2024 10:32am I run stfu myself, great product, I’ve been running them for about 4 years and wouldn’t build a bike without stfu now, makes a massive difference

1/29/2024 10:30am If you are up for the initial cost of the system all parts on the Transmission derailleurs are now replaceable so you could keep some spare clutches in the toolbox and swap as you burn through them. This may also give you an idea of what the specific wear points are that are causing your slop and see if you can come up with some home remedies to extend life.

1/28/2024 12:24am Jesus dude you have a real chip on your shoulder about these links. Surely you bought the link to make your bike more progressive because it didn’t feel Progressive enough in the first place and you had already exhausted all avenues in shock tuning as in spring rate/ tokens (if it’s air) and compression. Sounds like you bought a shiny...

1/24/2024 3:07pm I can agree with this. I’m never fussed on new bike day, there’s always the worry when I that I won’t be able to ride it as fast as my previous bike, it takes months of tweaking to really start pushing a new bike. I’m also not keen on things looking “shiny”,I never tape my bikes, I love worn grips...

1/23/2024 9:27am It’s strange with this bike I have just naturally been adding more and more spacers under the stem, I’m up to 25mm and a 20mm bar, my front end is higher than my brothers enduro and he’s on an s3 and about 5” 10”. I know spacers cut back reach but the bike definitely feels easier to ride downhill like...

1/23/2024 6:34am I have a conundrum I’d love some input on, I have been riding bikes for 20 years plus mostly dh but the last 8 years more enduro/trail. At 5ft 5” I used to always get mediums as smalls where just too short however the last two bikes I have had where medium Santa Cruz megatowers (2nd one was a warranty...

4/12/2023 1:32pm I don’t post post much here but this is a subject I have a bit of experience with. For the past 3 years in a row I climbed over 750,000 feet each year and about 3000 miles each year so I have put a fair bit of hurt on components and bikes. I live in a steep area and ride...
